72 Rover P6 V8
Discussion
Thanks guys, mini1275, will get more info & pics of the rebuild on here, I have a two yr thread running on the Classic Rover forum with the whole rebuild covered.
My aim was to restore the car but not as standard, I'm big US muscle car fan & also into Hot Rods & drag racing. I knew exactly how I wanted the car to look from the start, Had to get rid of the hidious british leyland Almond baby poo colour so Rover Monza red was my choice. The P6 is a great classic V8 british muscle car but I had to be rid of it's grandad/ pub landord image, hence the STUNNING alloys which I think really enhance the car, even the purists on the classic rover forum love them, they even love the Transforma logo!
its different and defo not sh*t,each to there own I know.
Yes a bit childish but hey sense of humour, you go to a show I can park next to 20 other P6 rovers all looking the same in sh*t british leyland colours so I decided to make mine stand out a little. I hate tow bars, to many foglights, AA badges covering the grill, boot mounted spare wheels, cant see out of rear window! Ok here's some build pics of starting when I first bought it:

engine has had new camshaft, lifters, pushrods, rocker arms & shafts, new upratedtiming chain & gears, uprated oil pump, new mallory electronic distributor.

P.S. You gonna take it to the 'Pod 1st July for the Retro Show? http://www.retroshow.co.uk/index.html

Hi TriumphV8, thanks for your nice feedback mate! that looks really sweet , I've had 4 of these P6's, last was Lunar grey V8, I really liked that colour, it was more a pastel green, no grey in it LOL.
it's an auto, BW35 unit, works well for its age, I do like almond, take no notice of my ranting, I did consider keeping it the same colour with maybe red leather but I love red n chrome combination, reminds me of An E-Type Jag, Not sure about the Retro day at the Pod, I may have the motor out inspecting the bottom end, she's usuing a bit of oil.. Oh I may cruze down to Surrey Street Rodder Wheels day on Good Friday, bit of trek as Live in Somerset & its in Aldershot but its meant to a great day & fantastic turn of Yanks, Rods, classic & customs, V8 heaven:-) Cheers Damian

Thanks for kind feeback guys!
Red Rover,
The wheels are why I chose the P6 V8 as I wanted to totally transform the image by purley adding a decent of Retro US rims , these are Cragars that were new design in 2010, they simulate the originally Cragar design from the 60's , even the P6 die hard purists say they really suit the car witha hint of 3500's trims in there.
I know not all will like them as the cars image to most people is one of standard skinny steel wheels, boot mounted spare, fog lights, AA badges & tow bars and to be fair these were the options in the day.
Appreciate your comment though, interior is standard, I need new carpets as the originals are shot, will keep it fairly standard although a Grant GT steering wheel will look great & oh maybe a B & M quick shifter for a bit of Drag racing ;-)
My aim was to retain its classic heritage looks with just small enhancements to give it a true British muscle car image which I think I have achieved by simply changing the wheels, and yes the paint is brilliant, I'm really pleased with it, labour of love, as I used cellullose so lots of prep & final wet sanding and final machine moping finishing with hand polish & wax,...my garage looks like aftermath 9-11

LOL, Hi Falkster, can you not bribe her or is your current collection to big to even consider it, I would just go and buy one, the elliment of suprise! or instant divorce
I've used all the 'surprise' lives I had!! One Saturday morning there was a noise in front of our house and we both went to the window - Sarah pointed out the low loader had a nice looking car on it! Me 'yeah I've always wanted a white 968'. Got b
ked!! Put a ridiculously low offer on a Z3M when I was a little tiddly which was accepted!! Got b
ked! Always wanted a 1600E in Aubergine, got b
ked. Bought my ML55 just after we moved house without selling my daily, got b
ked. Nice cheap 172sport Renault for track days, got b
ked! She doesn't know about 3 of my cars!!
A P6 aswell as a P5B is on the list but I'm not pushing my luck or I'll be doing my own rendition the famous dolly Parton song.
