Perhaps I am alone, but i am increasingly concerned at the use of the term "Chav" on this forum. To my mind, a chav is a littlr piece of scrote crap who drives around either in other peoples cars or some old POS which is not insured, taxed or MoT`d.

I would not define a chav as a young lad who spends a good few bob on a saxo, pug, golf etc etc etc and then decides to spend more of his own money on personalising the car. Given the huge restrictions placed on engine mods by the insurers, they have to look for other means of doing this.

I would agree that bolt on bodykits and bling wheels are not to the taste of most PHers, but for goodness sake, think back to your own first cars and some of the daft things you did, just to make it stand out from all the other identical motors.

Think about what defines a PHer and whether some of these lads fit the criteria.

PHing is a state of mind, NOT a state of wallet. Same could be said for "chav"ness.

The line between chav and laxxer can be quite blurred on one hand they want to improve the car on the other hand these improvments maybe a stupid exhaust or sound system and to show off these mods they like to do it by doing flybys as fast as there 1.1 shed will take them through the town highstreet. Also in doing these mods most of them will be invaildating there insurence hence driving around with no insurence very chav like

oh blimey . 3rd reply to a Towman posting in an hour . Yep, I agree. This phrase is a bit worrying in it's ease of use. Everyone you don't like is a chav? errrrr. Steady on. Bit of a sweeping statement?

Think we need a Pistonheads dictionary. The term chavs never started out as the name for thieving scum.

and a few online definitions don't mention thieving either www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=chav

You totally missed the point Streetcop. The two Micras shown and possibly the Merc (poor picture) are definately not chav motors. Whoever owns them has put a lot of time money and effort into getting them right (in their eyes).

Shame that a BiB is as blinkered as many other PHers.

Can I highly reccomend

www.barryboys.co.uk

To anyone sick of the Lax Power chavs and wanting to indulge in a bit of bashing.

www.forum.barryboys.co.uk/

To get stuck in straight away. I warn you though streetcop, its even more addictive than PH !

You dont have to be a chav to modify your car with stick on crap, but I estimate 95% of the crappy modified cars I see are populated by pikeys, driven with no regard to other road users, and are breaking -at least- one road law.

These days, modifying your car like a barry boy and complaining that people think you are a chav is like wearing womens underwear in a gay bar sporting dubious facial hair and going by the name of Nancy, and then complaining that you are getting hit on.

Please read this extract I removed from Cruise Midlands website for an example of their stupidity and why it so amusing when they complain the Police "harass" them.

" at the location we find a nice big area to park the CM firm sets up camp n get out 2 admire the other cars, mants eyes falls straight on a nice looking saxo n he heads off to drool. We all start having a chat when we get interrupted by the sound of screeching tyre only 2 look up n see a lotus esprit snake its way towards us, lotusboy had arrived lol. Well after wonder round, a donutin Z3, the 50 turning up with bout 4 car & 2 vans & mant getting done by them again!!! We decide its time for food n head off 2 maccy?s then get ready 2 head home & this is where the fun really starts?

Well what can I say; u can?t beat an empty motorway late at night!!!!! Among the usual driving down the road with no lights, lots of dodgy overtaking moves, sum 4th lane action & using traffic cones as chicanes & trying 2 block various cars in with a rolling road block lol, we nearly had u Andy, the best had 2 b when we stopped of at the services for re-fuelling n that I for sum reason got a bunch of flowers out of the toilet n handed them 2 Manton who promptly got them n shoved them up chod's exhaust?. The 1st flower powered ZR lol & on leaving Jez decide 2 stand out of mant?s sunroof, who then trapped him in there n drove off leaving him hanging out the roof for bout 20 miles, god knows how fast he got up 2 but he still managed 2 drink a can of beer!!! "
