...Not disclosing or replying to a letter from the police asking who was driving a vehicle, registered to you, at the time of a motoring offence?

I received 6 points today in court but i'm unsure if this includes the original motoring offence itself.

Thanks in advance.

(Would appreciate it if this could be moved to the "speed, plod and law" section)

3 I believe.

But you either are:

a) too arrogant to be bothered to respond

or

b) up to something no good.

just my opinion.

The original offence (speeding?) can not be heard because they do not have the evidence of the driver. This is kindly supplied when 172 form returned naming said person. In not returning the form they can only go ahead with that offence.

One of the principal reasons they upped it from 3 to 6 points.

To answer this, if they'd prosecuted you for two offences committed at the same time and you were found guilty - say, two notional offences carrying 3 points and 6 points respectively (one defective tyre and careless driving might be a reasonable example) - you'd only get the points for the "highest-scoring" offence, in this case 6 points.

Different circumstances to yours, though, and not applicable for reasons that others have posted (you haven't identified a driver at the time of the original offence, hence the 6 points and MS90 endorsement for the registered keeper of the vehicle involved which is going to screw your motor insurance costs for years frown ) .
