This thought just occurred to me. Like most of PH'ers, I have read all ( most ) of the BiB's postings here and I would personally like to thank all of them for being so helpful, reasonable and above all honest.
So my question is this:- are they typical of all BiB or do you think that they are more "reasonable".
I personally found the comment made by Streetcop ( just before he "left" and came back, ) ie where he told his fellow BiB that he was posting, and they didn't agree with it, a bit odd. Coluding with the "enemy" maybe?
Just wondered if there was a link between that way of thinking and their general attitude to the public.
Once again, thanks to all the BiB who post here.
[Streetcop, Dibble,Tonyrec, Bluesandtwos,Silverback Mike and DwightVanDriver]........hope I've remembered you alloops Sorry mungo, almost forgot you was a recent BiB

Not from my experience its not.

Most of the police officers that I know have their heads so far up their arse and take great delight in going "I told you so" at the first opportunity.

Then again most of the police I know are specials...

I think the majority of the BiB's on here arent at all representative of the BiB's at large.

They are good humoured, polite and willing to understand the point that is trying to be made unlike their non PHing counterparts...

Blademan, for one who joined so recently (2 or 3 weeks ago IIRC) you seem to have gained a very instant awareness of who lots of people are on this forum - not just the BiB but others.

Been here before perchance?

Nope.
Been around for about 5/6 weeks. I just spend time reading posts before I reply.
I am not BiB and am not a scam partnership. Am just a Blade riding, car driving member of public.

To elaborate :

Special police constable 1 - quote
"You shouldnt be downloading music, its very illegal and I may have to report you for it" - later that day they ask their son to download the latest copy of "X-Men 2"

Special police constable 2 - quote (after I got caught doing 77 in a 70 in wales "Speed cameras save lives and are there for a good reason" - then after they got caught a couple of months later doing 45 in a urban 30 "well I shouldnt be caught speeding as I am more aware of the conditions..."

Full time police officer "Right ive pulled you over for contrevening the double while lines (while I was on a bike - fair cop" - special goes over to the bike, depresses the clutch and states to the officer that the "back brake is a little sqidgy" - ITS THE CLUTCH FFS!!!!

So - AS STATED - MOST of the police officers I know are not like the people here and MOST of them are specials.

Thanks Blademan...

Gh0st; you've probably got a clouded view of Bib if the majority that you know are Specials. Although Special Constables provide a good service and can assist greatly at events, fairs and such like, I have mixed views about them. I mean, what sort of person puts his/her life at risk etc for no money whatsoever...?

As for Bibs on piston heads, I can't speak for all of them, but personally; I post on here for two reasons. Firstly, the views of the public and their ideas on law/order/police etc can be very useful to me for future reference. It's very easy to become detached when 80% of friends are involved in the police in some way or another. Secondly, if information which I post on here can both assist members and also properly explain how and why the police do certain things, who's to know how many people that might filter to.....

Spot on!

Now if I had met a few more BiB like yourself and the others here, my views would be different.

However my views are based on what I have experienced and they have changed a great deal from what I have learned here.

For whatever reason, Gemini seems to take my posts very personally and I do not know why this is as I have said time and time and time again that its not personal, its just a view of the system of which I am forced to live.

Dont worry GhOst...my mate Gemini probably thinks you're having a dig. Us Bib can get very defensive at times...comes from putting your life at risk at times for certain people who are ungrateful. (I've found however, the majority of people (rich or poor) very supportive of me in my job.) Even when I'm doing the nasty stuff: arrests, tickets reports on summons etc..You have to appear human you see or else all that registers with the 'punter' is the uniform. In the same fashion, you can't let the 'punter' take the piss...Whether they like it or not, if I've made a decision about something that's what's going to happen. Whether I can do it alone or I need a van load and a helicopter..if I've decided they're coming with me...they're coming with me...

Streetcop.
Whats the success rate in your area for recovering stolen bikes (intact). I do worry about that, but have steel shed,Datatag,Immobiliser and Mega ground anchor, so can't really do any more.

I think the majority of Police officers view themselves as normal people, but in all jobs you do get your pedantic power merchants.

I have been lucky throughout my time, I have mostly worked with likeminded people who I get on with famously. Yes, there are a few idiots, but the system normally sorts them out whether through official routes or not so official.

To answer the question instead of waffling a bit, yes, I do think we are typical of Police officers that have an interest in motoring, after all, a Police officer with an interest in Needlework wouldn't have a clue about half the things we go on about here.

Right then, I am off to hug a tree

I thought xxplod and Will Crash were also BiB, and there was somebody else a few weeks ago who appeared briefly. I thought he was from North Yorkshire, but I might be mistaken.

Best wishes all,
Dave.

Beg pardon, I also ought to have added 'gone' to the list.

Hehehehehe.

I have my own variation on this.

Pulled over for 35 in a 30 to check me out.

Copper goes to check bike. Starts it up, checks all functions. Presses horn. Bike stops.

Copper re-starts bike. Presses horn. Bike stops.

I let him do it 4 times. Copper turns to me and says "your bikes ed, it keeps stalling, and your horn does not work"

I say "Thats the engine stop button ! "
