Following various threads on this board, I have been conciously keeping an eye out for traffic cops on the main routes. Disregarding the ones I`ve seen in town, the last time I saw a traffic car was NINE days ago!!

Food for thought?!

Dreadful..

Write in to the Chief Constable (seriously) and voice your complaints....

Otherwise, all ACPO ever read are people whinging about policemans attitudes etc..

One thing Ive noticed (on the M5 west mids anyway), since the advent of the highway agency patrols there seems a distinct lack of liveried patrol vehicles.

is this national?, are they increasing plain cars?

doesnt suprise me at-all......last time i saw one on my way to/from work was over a months ago.

i saw one when i was taking my dads fester upto him on my day off on monday at the swakeleys roundabout, uxbridge (it was at around 4pm iirc) considering i had driven from southend and this was the first police car i saw on the whole journey it stood out somewhat......i havnt seen another one since.

Sounds like most of the UK The TrafPlod have migrated south to the M27 between Cadnam & Eastleigh - there's loads of 'em along this stretch. Marked, unmarked, you name it they're out there. Might also be something to do with the driver training HQ nearby.

last time i saw a proper traffic car was on the m25 junc 25 to 29 somewhere it was an unmarked greyish honda with lights going about to do someone on the opposite side of the road.

made me think i didn't drive at a bannable speed for the rest of the journey

Is a lot of the variation down to local policies ?

I live on the Norfolk/Suffolk border - sometimes I visit Norwich (in Norfolk), other times Bury St Edmunds (in Suffolk).

It's very noticeable that in Suffolk I often see BiB in the town centre just "being around", but there never appears to be any in Norwich - ever.

I saw, oooh, maybe two dozen yesterday. I'm guessing I'll see a similar number tonight... in the garage at work.

I saw one in this village, a couple of years ago. I think he must have been lost, no doughnut shops round here. (Or any other kind of shop for that matter).
