After a 2 month 'rest' from driving due to car issues I'm back in the right hand seat and my car seems to have become a plod car magnet since it's engine work
Now I don't do that many miles but I tend to do the same trip at the same time every day, well anyway, Friday's drive home from work about 3 miles in to the drive and I make a right at a set of lights and set off up a hill (sticking to my current 3.5k rev limit) look in the mirror and we've got Plod Focus with the bells ands lights on, so I pull over to let him past, only he sits behind me, bugger, knowing the road there wasn't really anywhere safe to stop so about 1/2 a mile with him on my bootlid and I pull in to a layby, young plod (I must be getting old all plod look like kids) does the usual checks and then goes into the reason he pulled me........
I apparently came around the 90 deg right, a bit fast, (but within the speed limits) and this is the best bit, a bit noisey
he commented that although I was 'probably' in full control my speed and the noise could scare other drives and force them to crash
Now I didn't want to have the hassle of a producer so just smiled, nodded and agreed with him
So I'm back on my way, now this is a journey I do every day and very rarely spot a single plod even though it runs past Nottingham PC headquarters, the next good set of bends I come to has another Panda car parked on the apex
and then another 5 miles and the next good sweeping downhill left hander and theres a traffic car parked in the layby opposite
It was as if the police had staked out my journey home
Then out for an A to A blast on Saturday, did the same sort of right turn at a set of green lights to be greeted with a Traffic car blasting the lights as soon as I was straight
so pulls over, but this time the plod just nails it past and disappears into the distance
Have Nottingham Police got a bit of budget for Petrol or is the Chief Inspector after some Esso Glasses or something
Obviously I'm happy to see police cars rather than cameras

No kidding, granted the main offence was it was about 1am so being the only car on the road bar the 4 police cars I was bound to be pulled

Where I live Police officers, and Police cars are sadly now only museum pieces.
It seems they would rather work for the Met, as they can earn London weighting and get Free rail and bus travel to work. I believe this is worth about an extra £5,000 per annum.

Nah mate...that's not the case at all...Most Bib get free bus/rail travel in their county, whatever it is, I do in mine.....
Extra £5,000 per annum wont buy you 100 bricks for London house prices...
Nah mate...they are leaving the Met to move elsewhere to either get on the property ladder or away from the smoke..
No offence to Tonyrec of course...

Well I never! I used to live in Sicey Avenue almost opposite the Sicey Hotel until I was about 9 and then we moved to Stocksbridge. I've been back to Shiregreen a time or two this past few years just to have a look round again, but I'm afraid the area has gone down badly. It seems to be the same pattern of decline in so many places, perhaps it's not a good idea to go back. Spoils some nice memories etc.
Best wishes all,
Dave.

Yes this is a lovely area to live in, and many of the people also seem to have the time to be civilised and pleasant with each other. It's almost like stepping back in time about 40 years, and in that respect I think it's a good thing. I know we can't turn the clock back, and yet in some ways....
Best wishes Gary, and everyone,
Dave.
On this point as a few of your know I drive an every so slightly enhanced classic Saab 900. I know that for 11 miles, at least, in all directions theres 5 other T16's (and I even know the colours and last digits of the reg as I've worked on most of them).
Now in the past few weeks I've been followed pretty much whenever I've driven past/been near a marked car and have been stopped 5 times, 3 times in "normal" hours and twice late at night. The late at night ones have been the real problem, when asked if it was insured I offered to get the documents as their all in the glovebox, BIB responded to other BIB with "Nah give him a producer its more hassle" (too late to bother arguing the toss with them), reason for stopping both times was "A car matching the same description as yours was involved in an incident", I'm slightly confused as theres no other cars that look anything like mine in the area and if I'd have been involved in an incident I'd have hoped I may have just noticed it. The other three times I've been stopped were for "Routing Checks" twice and "looked like you were moving a bit quick" (with 45mph traffic in front and behind").
Now I'm tempted to pop down the local station and have a word about it as its starting to get slightly annoying and as my brand is more sensible than boy racer it doesn't reflect well to see the demo car at the side of the road at least once a week with a lit up police car behind it! Any advice?
