A mate who insured his car nearly a week ago to get it back on the road for summer says askmid still showing not insured - how long does it take?
It was SORN while he kept his tax disc and DVLA took it off SORN when he rang after insuring it.
Do they have a different system?

askmid your vehicle is NOT showing as insured on the Motor Insurance Database today

DVLA vehicle status

It's down to the insurer to pass the vehicle's details onto the MIB, once this is done it will show as insured.

Most of the big names are pretty good at this (24 hours) however if it's one of the more obscure companies it can take some time. Might be an idea to give them a call and make sure they've passed his info on.

The current requirement is to submit to the MID within 7 days of policy inception. I don't know whether the MID commit to update within a specific time frame..

How did you manage to un-sorn it without buying a new tax disc? the very act of sorning a vehicle nullifies the tax disc which needs to be returned to dvla and to unsorn you need to retax.
