well, about a week and a half ago I was driving along a section of road in Bucksburn, 30mph dual carriageway, just outside Aberdeen. I was stupid enough to let myself get carried along by the traffic (doing about 34-37 in a 30). I'm not particularly familiar with that piece of road and didn't realise that there is a speed camera, the vehicle in the lane to my left slammed on it's brakes just before it, and I didn't see it until I was level with it, and I'm not entirely sure whether it flashed. I'm currently a named driver on my mothers insurance, so I'm assuming the ticket (if it exists) will be addressed to her, my question is this, what does the envelope look like, and does it have any distinguishing features?

Also I realise I'm an idiot, so no need for lectures on the speed:S

You want to intercept it before your Mother opens it?

Each force has slightly different letters so not sure but it is a safe bet that it will be with you by wednesday, the police in Scotland get the letters out pretty sharpish so if you have not heard by thursday you are probably in the clear.
DO NOT INTERCEPT IT.

It will be addressed to your Mum, it is usually in an envelope marked:

'Open now to claim your free copy of 50 shades of grey'

HTH.

It also flashes twice, so it's quite hard to miss.

The flash is pretty bright too I think. Not totally sure what it looks like in the day but facing a Gatso in the night, the whole world seems to go white it's so bright. Much brighter than you'd expect from the flash of a camera.

I don't think you would miss two very big flashes like they do.

I'd expect it to come in a brown paper envelope, possibly stamped in the corner with the local constabulary markings. I think mine was anyway, but that was over two years ago.

I'm going to ask before someone inevitably asks anyways, but;

[Spanish Inquisition] is it your car you're driving, or is it you mothers, if it's yours why is it in her name, is the insurance in her name as well and you're only a named driver? Are you fronting?! Well are you boy?![/Spanish Inquisition]

Looks like youre goin to jail mate. The whole Aberdeen constabulary gonna be on your doorstep and surrounding yr house just shortly. Step away from yr mums car and put yr hands above yr head. Yep, its a one way ticket to Australia for you, you've blown it. And you had so much in front of you - Aberdeen Uni, a career, a family of your own. All ruined now. Doh!!!!!!

so do I smile still, I haven't put up the current vehicle details, reg number, insurance provider etc
i think i'm pretty safe from my mothers insurance company, besides I'll only be with them for a few more weeks, as I'll be moving to a new policy for my own car smile

i have 3 cars insured with *********** ,i am very pleased with their service. when i insured the 3rd one they just happened to mention that they had worked out who i was on pistonheads as they were on pistonheads themselves, as if my name isnt a dead give away. so since then ive made sure what i post is accurate, truthful and cant be misquoted for whatever reason later on

silly to be queuing, we've already seen that the cars which didn't queue were quicker on their first laps.
Its that kind of attitude that has gotten the OP his speeding ticket in the first place. Dont encourage it!
