Cops in Watford - Any here ??
Discussion
Any of our friendly Police men/women here work in the Watford area ? By brother in law passed out (not alcohol before jokes are made) last week, he does his final 3 weeks from today and then has the pleasure of roaming the Watford streets. Curios to know his life expectansy as I know Watford can be a bit of a dangerous dump (sorry if you live there).
Not a BiB, but do have the dubious honour of living in Watford. It's not THAT bad. The ludicrously dubbed "cafe quarter" (wall to wall theme pubs...) can get a bit dicey on a Friday and Saturday night, but then that applies to pretty much every town centre in the land these days.
If anyone is older than 16 and fancies a night out in Watford, my advice would be bypass the centre of town, head to the station and go into London...

To be fair though there are many policemen and women in the 'cafe quarter' on Friday+Saturday nights. Probably about 10-15 plus vehicles which in an area about quarter of a mile long is lots.
And good thing too.
Indeed, especially if you're planning on committing a crime in another part of town!
Winds me right up...the local council is always banging on about antisocial behaviour, yet they've turned the top of the town into ground zero for the alcopop generation. Result? An explosion in antisocial behaviour, the whole area looks like a bomb's hit it the following morning, fights all over the place, broken windows, the Max Power GP in the multi storey and everyone over 21 wondering where the
to go for a night out! Oh, I forgot...we've got the 80s bar. Thanks a bunch! I didn't like that music then, so I sure as hell don't like it now! Now, that part of town was dead, admittedly, and I suppose it is sort of bringing money into the area, but it really is complete overkill up there now. Keep seeing pictures of Claire Ward posing with a chewing gum removing machine to highlight her bid to "clean up the town", yet the following days the place is knee deep in the stuff again. Idiots the lot of them. Still, at least we have CCTV. Now I can get beaten up and watch the highlights!

Watford is an utter dump, the only thing worse than it's swarms of alcoppores are the bouncers, if you want to view the missing link, he works the door at Chicago's, about 5'10, 18stone ish, short hair, attitude, nothing an empty lift shaft couldn't sort out.
Asda provides all the classless specimens you could ever need, it's shoppers are the consumers taste forgot...
You should try a night out in Luton....
I think we actually import a lot of our alcopoppers from outlying small towns anyway. Certainly loads of party bus type things in evidence of a Saturday night. As for Chicago's....why would anyone actually want to go in there anyway? "Rock Cafe"....has anywhere ever been more incorrectly named I wonder?
I really do loathe the local authorities round here. They decide to build a stonking great big shopping centre in town, then wonder why the whole place gridlocks of a weekend. To try and improve matters they stick bloody pointless bus lanes everywhere, build speed bumps everywhere and block off every side turning going, then in their infinite wisdom give planning permission for yet another retail park in the worst traffic bottle neck in town. The latest wheeze is spending a fortune redesigning the road layout outside the station and installing lights, then deciding that they don't work, covering them up (possibly permanently) and installing zebra crossings instead. There are now so many partially removed road markings down there that nobody has a clue what to do.
ASDA is an interesting place though, especially at 3am. They should rename it CHAVDA. At least we don't have an Aldi or a Lidl....
That said, I enjoyed the match last night, especially as my boss is a QPR fan

I don't disagree that the road planning lot are useless w*****s - I fear my car will fall into a pothole one day and never be recovered
To be honest, I've not seen any trouble in the cafe quarter, and I've been up there quite a lot recently. I went to Aura not long ago and stood at the window and you could always see a pair of police officers somewhere. As soon as one walked past another would walk from the other direction. I've seen a couple of people get aggro when they've been thrown out of a bar/club but straight away they get carted off by bouncers and police. Inside the places is a different matter, granted, but I try and avoid the kiddie places anyway
It's better than it used to be - when you had about 3 coppers who used to hide in their van by the pond.
