I come home after being away and find the police on the motorways, deliberatly slowing down all lanes to 40mph for no reason that I can see. There are no accidents in the area or wide loads etc.

I've been home 5 weeks and seen it as many times and in both directions.

Anyone shed some light? Are they just being bloody minded and slowing us down coz it's good for us???

I've heard (in fact I think one of our resident BiB posted) that they do this if there's a pursuit coming up behind and they need to stop the car being chased.

Could also be TPAC training or in fact real ones.
A sterile area needs to be established and the action is all up ahead in a 'safety zone'

I doubt it's a pursuit thing in this case, it's happening too often.

A training thing would make sense. ing cheek if you ask me, slowing up the public going about their business without a good reason. There's a time and place to do training.

Like all those "well driven" TA convoys out on the motorways on a Friday evening...

Where would that be then, in this case?

It could also be a rolling road block to allow debris to be cleared off the carriageway - by the time you get there it's all cleared and there's nothing to see!

Part of the standard car course usually involves doing a rolling road block. It is joly good fun, slowing down Joe Public. Given that BiB will NEED to do it on a real British motorway, I think that has to be decision made in terms of where it is practised!
I had to do it in a big public order van once, when an aeroplane declared an emergency at Southampton Airport. There were no traffic units near enough!

When I used to commute cross country, every Wednesday morning I'd be overtaken by this well driven escort followed by several white police training cars & marked ones.

A few miles up the road they were training with their spikey tyre bloing things things.

After a few weeks I just put my foot down when mr unmarked was seen in the rear view mirroe. Was rather good fun.

Big F off sized versus wee crumbly white car ?? I think I will have a fiver on armynick on this one thank you.

Don't think tpac or stinger have a deal of effect on a Challenger 2. That 105 on the turret looks a bit more effective than your CS spray and baton too.

Mind you, could always ram a doughnut up his barrel and spread jammy fingerprints on the periscope so he cannot see where he is going.

For all we know, Armynick could be ex-catering corps! That said, the slop jockeys killed more soldiers than the tank regiments and infantry put together!
