Diesel Rapid Response Car
Wiltshire police select Accord CTDi
Wiltshire Police has become Britain’s first police force to select the Honda Accord Tourer i-CTDi diesel as a rapid response car.
Several of the new estates are now in use with the West Country Force as part of a 10 car order. They join a fleet which also includes Civics, CR-Vs, Civic IMAs, Streams, Jazz and HR-V models – as well as a ST1100 and ST1300 Honda motorcycles operated by Wiltshire Police.
A previous Accord 2.0 litre petrol covered over 200,000 miles on front line response tasks.
Wiltshire Police currently purchases between 40-50 Honda cars per year.
Discussion
Hantspol have had diesel response car since about 1994. Started with the 4 dr BMW 325tds manual. They were quite good, if not very roomy. Then we had the God-awful 325 tds estate autos, which were so slow it was almost dangerous. Very embarassing when the panda car is faster around town!
Now we've got the new 330d estate autos, which are a pretty decent bit of kit and fairly rapid too.
