Black Rat, The Met.

Black Rat sticker
So, what are people's thoughts/views/ideas/knowledge on the Black Rat Sicker on the rear of cars and crotchrockets? (I've had 2 bike's so therefore I'm entitled to call them that!)
I understand it's something to do with "The Met" and if you 'belong' and you stick this on the back of your motor then certain blind eyes are turned to minor motoring things like speeding, over taking on double lines etc?
'Fast Bike' magazine produced a sticker sheet a couple of months ago and there was one on the sheet, does this now mean that every weekend Warrior belongs to "The Met" and therefore wont get pinched? I suspect not, but will these particular boys in blue have to find an alternative visual clue as to their occupation now?
Does or Did the Black Rat work?

Yes they are for Met Traffic.
I used to have one on my car but it suffered a load of scratches 'one night' in deepest darkest Surrey and im sure it was because the slag knew that its significance.
A lot of guys at work use them but nowadays they are used by all and sundry and could be owned by anyone.
I saw one on a Chav car a couple of years ago and naturally stopped it to have a chat more than anything.
Turns out that this guy was a security guard for Tescos and he said that a friend told him to get one because he wouldnt get stopped by Trafpols as he would be though of as one of 'their own'.
How wrong he was as he ended up walking home.

my dad had one in his taxi for years but hes after a new one as its a bit worse for wear now after being taken from car-to-car after he finished cabbing.
he also had a blue square that he was given to put in the front window of his motor after leaving a doo at the met social club near aldenham......i cant think of why though

Yep..I'm a member of the Black Rats...and the Bow Bells Motor Company...even though I'm not Met.
I too saw the sticker with this months copy of Fast Bikes...
At one time, only Bib and those associated with Trafpol used to wear the sticker and to be honest I've only ever seen a couple of them about. I've one on the rear of my Arai helmet.
