unprovoked hit and run
Discussion
just read this story on the BBC website http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/london/3559894.stm
Shocking that anyone can do that
Police are treating the incident as attempted murder but say they do not think there was a motive for the attack.
They are still looking for a white people carrier, possibly a Ford Galaxy, with blacked out windows.
Ring 020 8247 6256 or 020 8247 6481 with information.
Sadly not a new phenomenon.
Witness to similar about 15 years ago. Driving through village in Essex in the middle of the night, some distance behind a car. As car approached a pedestrian, it mounted the pavement and knocked him down. Utter disbelief on my part. Gave chase (interesting in a V8 Transit with car trailer on) and got VRM. Rang 999 & reported then returned to scene. Young lad was very drunk and was convinced he had fallen over! Car driver caught and sent down. Got really nice letter (which I still have) from lads parents.

It is very difficult to understand how having hit someone a driver could simply drive away. There must be a flight instinct that is so strong it overcomes what is surely the logical step of trying to fix the mistake or if the victim is at fault just simply trying to help. Research into this would be much more use than current social science trends. Feel sorry for the kiddy though.
