Have a look at the Governments new ideas for learner and new drivers;

I'm all for the education of new drivers, as I see such poor displays on a daily basis..

Have you read it Street? looks pretty negitive to me. Lots of good ideas that the DoT won't be implementing.

All pretty pointless until there is a foolproof way to ensure that the person taking the test is the same person who will receive the licence. Also pointless when licences from other countries are accepted as the direct equivalent of our own.

(2nd line applies to vocational licences as well)

Don't forget though that many countries (eg Germany, Austria, Switzerland) the test to get a licence is harder than in the UK, in fact almost all direct swap licence countries have harder tests.

Perhaps the swap should include a 'dumbing-down' to UK levels session

I`m thinking of non-european, ex empire countries.

AFAIK they do not have an automatic direct swap anymore.
