Long story short, came back to my car and found the traffic gestapo had given me a fixed penalty for 'not parking inside a bay'

this was on a road, there was no road markings and no signs anywhere and I was not parked across any entrance

not a chance I am going to pay it, i would rather go to court

any tricks to use when writing my 'go to hell' appeal letter to the nice people

Let me be the first to say you are an evil person, it was all your fault, you deserve to lose your license, and they should bring back the death penalty just for you.

Too little information.
You need pictures.
Presumably they have pictures.
There's probably a sign and bays half a mile away on the same road that apply.

Good luck fighting a council ticket. Unless you have very good evidence and can prove to them it was given wrongly, then you don't really have a chance.

If you look at this. I was parked exactly where the L200 pickup is parked which is not marked or signed

Nothing to do with your problem but those double yellows on the opposite side of the road are un-enforceable anyway.

If you believe your are in the right then I would look at the moneysavingexpert website, he has loads of advice.

Your first action in the chain to PA is not to pay. Await a NOTICE TO OWNER from LA. In response to this write a letter back (factual and without rancour) as to why you submit you did not commit an offence. They will either accept and bin or send a NOTICE OF REJECTION OF SUBMISSION. This will say why and also give details how to take the matter furtyher to the PA.

Going to send a nice letter away tonight

I can't see how it's a legal ticket, no signs and no yellow lines

it does look as if there are parking bays about 20ft away though...
and parking on a bend next to a junction is just asking for trouble..
