Speeding in France question
Discussion
You won't get any points.
You might receive a request to pay a fine.
Whether you pay it or not is up to you. Personally I wouldn't but then I'd make sure I didn't return to the country in that particular vehicle. I'm not sure if the French use ANPR or if those systems would work with UK style reg plates but I certainly wouldn't want to take the risk. They have fairly draconian penalties involving large fines and vehicle confiscation.

if you elect not to pay the fine and return to France without being stopped as you get off the ferry i would advise you to avoid toll roads and stick to the B's just in case licence plate recognition is being used. You could end up sitting at a barrier to get of the toll road being asked for your fine aswell as toll!
In future, just used a tom tom with the scamera locations updated...much easier!

Is that based on knowledge or supposition?Riley Blue said:

On a recent Petrolheads Nirvana road trip, one of the drivers reported that a Toll booth had added a fine when he paid by credit card. He didn't notice it until he got his card statement.Don

Even PHers who live in France have never heard of such a thing happening.

These are illegal in France... you can get a massive fine for even having one in the car but switched off.

This has been discussed at length on both the Le Mans and the France threads.
You will not get any notification of speeding captured by a French fixed camera if your car is UK registered. Yet. They are talking about sharing information, but knowing the likely cooperation between UK and France what do you think are the chances? Then, even if they do say go, can you imagine how long the project would take? I think fixing the euro is a higher priority in France right now...
Ask again in, maybe, about 5 years...
