I think we LIKE traffic wardens.....

Think about it, as a nation we Britons are a petty bunch of Victor Meldrews and we hate to see people getting away with flouting the rules to which we all have to abide.
We hate people cutting in front of us in traffic queues.
We hate it when people park outside the box.
We hate it when people stop in the yellow box at junctions.
We hate people driving around in un-taxed rusty Nissan Bluebirds.
We hate people overtaking us and people not letting us over take them.
We hate parents with children using disabled spaces, people without children using child spaces and disabled people driving too slowly.
We hate people parking in front of our driveway, people who drive the wrong way around car parks, and people who are unable to reverse park in less than 10 minutes no matter how large the space.
We hate people carriers, vans, trucks, caravans, camper vans, 4x4s and BMWs, especially when parked inconsiderately.
So bearing in mind that a lot of the things that wind motorists up are parking related, why do we hate the petty minded, yellow tabard wearing, mini-hitlers so much when they are the ones enforcing the rules we all think so important?

you should like wardens, because there is a definate trend to want more police and less spped cameras.
So in the same vain (if wardens hadn't ruined their reprtation already!)
cameras that nicked illegal parking or a warden that can use judgment and debate to decide - which would you rather have?
NB london parkies have had there "reward" scheme removed for ticket production, so they might be less zelous now...
