Nightime flashing!
Discussion
It seems as though the latest stupidity from the 'Cumbria Silly Camera Pratnership' and 'Speedfinder-General' (SG) Callaghan is an intention to use their laser-cameras at night. when asked how the front number plates would be photographed the answer was 'Flash Photography'.
Whether this is a 'wind-up' is not known, but if they are serious, and we've not noticed the SG having much in the way of a sense of humour, then to take an unannounced flash photograph of a driver at night on an unlit main road at over the posted limit seems to verge on the totally irresponsible.
What a stupid bunch they must be. This is about road safety? Leave it out!

Take a look at their web site (www.cumbriasafetycameras.org/forum).
They made the statement as a result of a question from Paul Smith of 'SafeSpeed'
Completely barmy!

I would assume that an Infra-Red flash could be used.
However, you would never know that you had been "hit".
If theyre using Ir flash photography then you can use a slave flash on the front linked to the jammer so it fires the slave...all in IR of course...then all they get is a big white out on their oversensitive video.
BTW theyre so full of shit, its unreal!

I may or may not have amused myself by taking digital flash photos of passing cars to make them think theyd been got when my friends campervan broke down and we were waiting for recovery...
May one ask why? What a strange thing to want to do.
By the way, the questions on the Cumbria site about this continue.
The suggestion was that 'Flash' would be used, no mention of IR. everyone has assumed it will be normal 'Flash' and visible.
If flashed like this at night, the tepmtation will be to stop, get out and shove the flash gun where the sun don't shine.

Alerady happens with GATSOs if you happen to be passing by when someone going the other way gets their double flash. When this happened to me some years ago I had to pull over sharpish and stop on a NSL single carriageway road as I couldn't see anything. Telephoned our local camera unit (in the days before SCAMPs) and the police officer at the other end, it was a sergeant, said that the safety risk of being temporarily blinded by the camera was less than the risk posed by a speeding motorist.

He will only hold that opinion until a driver going the other way crashes and his family get KSI'd.
That sort of attitude is so irresponsible. Is there no law to prevent the temporary blinding of drivers who are going about their lawful business, and by lawful I mean driving towards a GATSO which gets triggered by a vehicle going the other way?
If I didn't think that the SG's hidden agenda was to get rid of us by ignoring us I would give up.
However, I don't want 'His Pratnership, the Speedfinder-General' to think he's won the battle.
Far from it. I shall be increasingly hostile until I get banned or get answers.
Come and join us FiF. I'm sure you can be as aggressive as 'JF' or myself, or the other assertive ones on there.
This latest question about nightime use of Talivans is another question he can't answer satisfactorily without making himself look as silly as he did as a result of the 'Safe Overtaking' thread where the old adage about holes and digging became very apparent.
Don't let them off the hook.
Come and join in the fun and have a good laugh. Mr. 'SG' gets very childish when challenged.
It seems as though the SG took umbridge when he thought that some people were posing using more than one 'name'. (As if!!).

. I'm not saying my arguments are watertight, but they're no worse than the crap the feed us and the press on a daily basis

But that is proof that Speed Kills!!!!
Car speeds, gets flashed, causes on coming driver to get blinded by flash, on coming driver looses control and crashes killing xyz.
or?
