Parking fine in the post from a camera....

I must be behind the times, didn't even realise they did this, but my old man just got a £55 fine in the post, because he stopped on a single yellow line to answer a phone call. You can see him in the car with the brake lights on.

Blatant money making IMO. I told him to appeal.

Are they rolling these camera's out across the country?

"These cameras"? They're your common or garden CCTV cameras, as found in the thousands across the country.

London is not the whole country, but may seem like it if you have never been outside it.

my brake lights come on with the engine off key out, so that is not proof of using the phone while in charge of a motor vehicle.

That's no proof of engine off or any other condition of parking. In my car, brake lights come on even with ignition off.

It is important to be clear what the alleged offence is .

Also what is and is not permitted on that road .

Stopping is not the same as parking , and in some places stopping is permitted whereas parking is not . Exceptions being Clearways where no stopping is permitted .

We've got roving camera cars locally (Luton & Dunstable area) - much more efficient than having some poor bugger writing each ticket by hand and taking abuse from aggrieved drivers. It only works as a money-making scam if people actually park illegally.

So what you're saying is probably the only consultations you've made with council tax paying public (your employers) about parking enforcement showed widespread discontent.

Whereas any viable business would take that sentiment as an encouragement to work on projects that delight those people you rely upon for funding, your public sector "we'll do what we want because we're a self serving monopoly and screw those paying our wages" mentality leads you to step up the pressure whilst cowering behind a camera lens like some sort of nasty little school snitch.

Let's hope Cameron tosses a few more public sector parasites out in the wild to find proper jobs.

Stopping to answer in a safe place is far better than a handsfree.

Depending on the facts of the matter - the guy who got the ticket may well legally have done no wrong, difficult to tell from what's posted.
