Points still on licence after 3 years ??
Discussion
sent off for a new licence photocard thing to replace my old one with 3 points written on it for an sp30 fixed penalty in may 01. My new one has come back with this still detailed on it. I thought it would come back clean and these points would have expired after 3 years, or do they stay on for 4?
I also got done in April on the M40 over 100 when do you reckon I'll hear anything and what do you reckon I'll get?
Thanks for any advice,
J

SP30 is valid for 3 years, on your licence for 4 and most insurance companies ask you to declare any in the last 5 years.
This is all true but how would an insurance company know about the points if you've had them removed after the 4 years?
Becuase under the rehabilitation of offenders act you have to tell them, otherwise they are within their rights not to pay out on your insurance if they find out you have lied.
Once it goes past 5 years, you are perfectly entitled to say "no" even if they ask for 10 years records. (Unless they have a goverment dispensation, which they won't have)

Did you request them to remove the points and pay the relevant fee to do so? If not, then they are likely stay on there. This applies if it is a free replacement due to name or address change.
Eh! They're having a laugh!
So regardless of a license being replaced for change of address free, they still want £17 (or whatever) to remove points on top of the original fine?
If that is they case they can f'cough. My 6 year old points can stay. I earned them, I'm keeping them.

When I changed my address, my points were removed at the same time for free as they were over 4 years old.
