am annoyed as a new camera (one that points towards you as you approach) has done me twice in a week. close to ban now, no excuses but am worried. there is no speed camera sign up on the road as u approach, is this a legal requirement and can i challenge the NIP?

AFAIK no warning signs needed. All guidelines on cameras are just that, guidelines not legal requirements, and exceeding a speed limit is an absolute offence. Major sympathies, hopefully no NIP in 14 days and it was firing blanks. Over to the BiB to say I'm wrong...

Absolutely correct.

Camera warning signs are purely advisory, not mandatory and their absence does not exempt speeding.

It may be as well to be as slow with the whole process if you know how to. I'm sure there is some sort of an EU hearing taking place next month which may benefit us all. Take a look around the Pepiboo forums.

AFAICT - and this is somewhat subject to the European courts - but there is NO reason why you should get any points or have to make a donation to the bastard scamera highwaymen. If you get a tug by the BiB thats different - but the scameras are IMHO toothless (they and the public just don't know it yet)

If you get a ticket - goto www.pepipoo.com as ask there - apparently they / we are starting to annoy the authorities!!!

Do NOT return the NIP until you have looked at www.pepipoo.com

As for a road angel / Origin B2 / whatever. They are license savers - no ifs buts maybes - license savers.

have read the pepipoo forums and some interesting articles but law blows my mind and i dont want to be a test case and get book thrown at me. the camera was a truvelo one (didnt flash) and has sat not activated for over a month. they have now activated it and ive been done twice by it (NIP) for aug 11 and aug 12, and have likely driven past it several times last week at above 30mph. it seems bloody unfair that will lose my licence and maybe job in space of 3 days!! at least if it flashed id have known it was active. really worried as life without car would be horrific! help!

Use your speedo and the speed limits, they work fine and are much cheaper than the gadgets you mention.
