Not a real clown unfortunately, but some idiot I know - who kept proudly telling us how much he'd had & driven - got busted at the weekend. Hopefully they'll throw the book at him especially as he'd let his tax run out - plod quote: "Well I don't think that'll help you much".
Any cops, judges or solicitors know what he can expect to get? I think it'll be a first offence. The more severe the better so I can gleefully let him know the possible outcome to his hearing in a few days time...

Cheers

At least 12 months ban...possible 18 months...reduced slightly if he agrees to pay for and attend an alcohol/driving training session.

Fine in accordance with salary/outgoing etc..

Insurance premium plenty ££££s next time for the tosser..

Yep..entirely possible..

What a shit system we work under, eh?

The danger element of driving whilst drunk outweighs the moral element of theft, though..

My parents neighbour was done last year for drinking and driving. Was about time he was caught has had been drink driving for years.

He crashed in the local Safeways car park, reversed into several parked cars and drove off.

Police shortly thereafter turned up on the doorstep.

Forget what the fine was, £750 to £1,000 rings a bell, plus a driving ban of 18 months reduced to 12 if he went on the drink course.

He has been on the drink course and I understand it is a real waste of time, and doesn't actually teach offfenders anything they don't know. Although presumably if you are employed it means you need to take time off.

Personally I believe he got off very lightly, but the real punishment is the increased insurance premiums after the ban has ended.
