Driving back from the coast yesterday (on B roads) when I became aware of a white van driving right up my a*s*. It had the name of the company (I thought) written on the front, and took me a few looks to read what it said (as it was 'through the mirror')
"VIDEO PATROL" I eventually read, with a white shirted chap driving it.
So I get stuck behind the usual carnival procession of caravan, old bloke, another old bloke, 45 MPH mechants and we enter a 30MPH area. Fair enough.
Now the procession of cars are overtaking a parked car, and as it's approaching my turn I see a car on the other side of the road to which I have to give way, so I brake. "VIDEO PATROL" almost goes up my a*s* end.
Now what he could see that I couldn't presunably from his elevated driving position, was that the car coming the other way was actually parked up, but parked in that '2 feet from the kerb' sort of way so It looked like it was approaching.
From that I would say that I erred on safety by giving way, and soon set off again when I realised what the situation was.
'VIDEO PATROL' is now RIGHT up my a*s*, where he stayed for the next 8 miles.

What's all that about then?

Was it a Police 'video patrol' van? or what?

Who knows why the guy/lass was driving like a donut. If it was a police driver, it's shameful.

Clear cut case of a total tosser behind the wheel. This is on the increase but I beleive the police are hitting these sort of drivers hard now and paying more attention to this growing problem.

Not sure,
He did have the look of a Police officer, but the camera looked like a stick on Maplins CCD £40 job, on the front of the dash. Unless there was another one near the sun visor, but I didn't get much chance to see that because of how close he was.

Police video units are usually:

Where the video cameras appear out of the roof on high mounts...They are for event policing and such like.

They also have the police livery on the vehicle, as in:

Interesting... if it was a geniune video van or whatever then the nob has just incriminated himself.

Call to the local plod station maybe to see if they do have these vans in existance?
