I've heard that your tank can be 'dipped' to look for red dye in the tank.

Now, I don't even know where to buy red diesel, and I wouldn't be tempted to run on it, but I'm curious as to how you dip a modern fuel tank? Most fillers have valves and anti-syphon gear installed, so how do they get at your tank?

And can they detect marine diesel?

I've seen people filling trucks with red diesel around Bedford, but I just let them get on with it. I really can't be bothered to report it.

They tip your entire car upside down and pour the red diesel into a wee pyrex beaker. Your tapes/CDs go everywhere!

you lot are so suspicious

Its not at all for changing the colour of red diesel blue to get around paying tax on the fuel at all

Its purley so that if you suspect you are getting less MPG than you should be you can dip your employees tanks and see if they are steeling your diesel. Its obviuosly well above board

Says it all in the advert And I for one belive every word of it

Hold on a mo if you were to tip this dye into Red diesel the ensueing final colour of the Derv would be brown, so you could still tell.

Fuel tanks have one way Roll over valves which allow fuel in but no fuel to escape the other way.

No problem - cameras cannot detect the use of illegal fuel!
