Before anything else escalates in the way I know it will unless some people realise what I am about and that I am NOT the enemy, nor am I some sort of radical, subversive nutter, I am going to enlighten you.
I am 55 years old but far from over the hill, believe me. In terms of the motor car I can unreservedly say in modern parlance that I've done it, been there, worn the T-shirt!!
I trained as a project design engineer and then spent years, some of them tremendously fulfilling and interesting, tuning and rebuilding sports, classic and high performance cars; from Quattro Turbo rally cars to tuning the carbs on the local Police Jags.
I have spent over thirty years studying road safety systems and the related effects on vehicle design and passenger safety.
Throughout this period I studied the law, with particular emphasis on the principals and applications of it's implementation in road traffic matters and the effect this had on our lives.
I prepare and defend people in court against the gross prejudice that exists in these courts and the procedure leading up to the appearance. I usually win.
When I make statements in my writings they come from YEARS of research and personal experience, and then only after a great deal of thought.
Most importantly, they are made for the benefit of everyone on the sight, I want them to profit from the benefits of my experience.
It is understandable then that I have the deepest suspicion as to the motifs of people like Jimbro 1000, who implies that I could be bringing the good name of the site into disrepute, and goes on to send me links to threads involving accusations of death threats way back in February before I even knew the site existed.
I am even told I'm getting on my soap box and making a political statement.
So I would simply ask him to explain to myself and everyone else on the site in minute detail what the relationship is between my writings and the February "death threats" to a road safety campaigner.
If he can't, let me suggest he starts contributing by way of positive suggestion to both identify the "political" problems we all encounter on the road and the discovery of a solution to them.

Iolaire,

I really wouldn't worry about it mate. Christ, i've been slated here countless times but i'm still around!! Pistonheads seems to have all kinds of people on it, most of whom seem to see the world in a very different way to me. Thats what makes the site what it is.

There's no need to post threads justifying who you are and why you think the way you do. Just enjoy putting your opinion across and seeing the replies. We're lucky enough to live in a country where we can still do that......

That is not old - you are admittedly older than I am! (My less than gallant husband .... giving away a lady's age - that means I shall have to attack his wallet again ..... He upsets me - I "fine" him by spending all his money on a pretty dress or something )

You will be most welcome here - if you can help people

Of course the war against motorists is political, same as career cops like Dick Ed are more politically orientated than "cop". (He wants to be Sir Dick Ed - I am sure .... )

The site is full of interesting stuff - General Gassing covers everything from what's on the telly, to NHS to education - to headline news and politics, racism, - and this bit is the Speed and Cops bit. Though the topic crops up in General Gassbagging as well .

As for Aunty Mary - nice lady in reality, and absolutely genuine in her concerns for my safety (and other people's safety) - her work has been sterling in most other areas - apart from this one where I feel she has lost the plot....if only she would loosen up on speed cameras .... and stop behaving in such an absurd fashion when a motorist disagrees with her.

Wildcat why do you always call Mary Williams – “Aunty Mary” I find this strange, when she is only 33, according to the press, is she lying about her age. All my aunties are in there 60s or more

If we all agreed with each other, the site would be boring, the more views, whatever they are, the better.

Anyway, as Wildcat hinted at, it's best to express our views now while it's still legal

I am an uncle at 33, my sister is an Auntie at 29. I'm sure that there are many, many uncles and aunts that are in their teens or even younger accross the country.

Exactly - she probably lurks here (else why else would she have gotten he knickers in a twist as she did that time ..... Bit menopausal .... Gives us wimmin a bad name - being hysterical over summat and nuffink .....

Also - when we were "BRAKE" members - but she was doing something about garages and haulage operators who never checked their vehicles - and we had lost Ferdl (loveliest handsome cousin) in this way .... but then they tried to manipulate us by asking us to publicise Ferdl's death and my incident "as result of speeding car" and this would have been untruth. Yes - hit at speed - but driver was not really speeding - as he was in fact dying..... My Papa, the Mad Doc and my eldest cousin called her "Aunty Mary" after a spinster aunt in most sarcastic of voices - hence we call her this amongst ourselves as well...

Besides - she cannot accuse us of name calling or issuing bizarre and absurd threats by referring to her as woman who does not get enough excitement .....which is implied because - "Aunty Marys" in novels are usually portrayed as "old biddies!"

I think you flatten yourself a bit much, with reference to Mrs Williams lurking here, I know for a fact (through a journalist friend) that someone email those threats to the press and to Mary, I have a copy of that email and the address of the person, and a copy of all the threats. (smiley stupid face winking).

So she is menopausal, a spinster and does not get enough excitement? And you do posting on here day in and day out? MMMMMMMM (another stupid smiley face).

And she gives wimmin (your spelling mistake) a bad name, being the youngest person ever to get an OBE, campaigning to get corporate manslaughter on the law books, writing the only advice book given free to all bereaved families and friends following a death on the roads. Know her well do you? And what have you ever done for wimmin? (your spelling again).

All the above I got from journalists and are fact unlike the crap you say about someone who you know will not retaliate.

This site should be about Speed, Plod & the Law and not insulting people who as far as I can see try to help others, I and you might not agree with all she says or does but I respect her.

Can you please not refer to them as 'threats'. For people who do not know about the infamous thead, the statements where about as threating as "Oh, I could kill for a pint right now"

No I am sorry Forever Driving they were threats, the only way the police could not go further is because they were on the www. If they were printed or over heard at the Pub the police could have issued a warning, and possibly taken it further. They also were quite person to Mrs Williams which is quite different, than “I am killing for a pint”.

Ted has asked us not to go into it any further, but I personally call black, black and white, white not just dark or light grey.

I have a copy of all the posts and some of them are pretty nasty and sick.
