WhiteVan Man!!!
Discussion
Hello,
Sorry for the long post!
Was on the way to work this morning, on my journey I go through Bromley (Kent).
There is a road that goes 2 into one, I was in the inside lane, and a white van shot down the outside and stayed on my right, forcing his way in.
He was so close I could not go any further so I had to stop, he still pushed his way in, causing me to hit the curb with my wheel and my front bumper.
Now I don’t drive anything flash or expensive (a Honda civic) but the now has a gash down it and the alloys are curbed.
When I showed my anger by using ones horn, he proceeded to get out of his van and threaten to beat my head against my car...
Well as he was a lot bigger than me, I said backed down a bit and he went on his way.
I have the reg, and the company number of the van, but I do not know how I should proceed with getting my car repaired as I plan to sell it soon!
Thank you in advance!
Ant

Sorry TCO, this may be difficult to sort out.
I learnt a long time ago, and the hard way, if someone does something stupid, you have to let them drive into your car, don't damage your car by avoiding them.
Then, they are clearly in the wrong, and all you need to do is take numberplate and exchange insurance details. If they wont give details, or won't stop let the police sort it out - and it will be much more serious for them.
Get a witness from the car behind to give details.
At the moment, there is no proof that you did not drive into the kirb by mistake, or you drove into the kirb on separate incident etc etc etc.

'Shop him. You will have to go to the copshop to report it but the police can go to the address of the registered keeper and find out what has gone on.
I should know, it happened to me the other way round when some old git took a dislike to a young bloke driving a flash car....
I had to do s police taped interview to clear it all up....
It's an accident.....under the terminology...owing to the presence of another motor vehicle (white van) an accident occurs where damage is caused to another motor vehicle (your civic)
White van man = fail to stop (and give details to you) + fail to report (presumably)

Don't hold your breath about the police taking any action, I've tried on three ocassions to report a road rage to Derbyshire police, last night I waited 1 1/2 hours at the main police station only to be told there was no-one available. Luckily my mum (hormonal middle age woman) took exception to this and refused to leave the building until we were seen. ended up talking to a sergeant who wrote notes on bit of paper. Had phone call this morning to say we could fill in statement on pro forma and post it back, could have done this in the first place but not given option! Whilst we were waiting at the police station every one that came in had broken their bail conditions and were greeted by staff and fellow crims like long lost friends, I felt like I was at a party where I didn't know anyone.
i know the feeling had similar from staffs police, wife driving ,me in passenger seat idiot in ML cuts us up at local roundabout wife takes avoiding measures( only in little focus at time) then he carries on all over the road . rang staffs police off my mobile ,gives them the reg no and they tell me it doesnt belong to that vehicle....and had i made a mistake,, i,m 20 feet behind it.in the end they said they couldnt do anything about it. wife chickened out and we went home.
