An oldy, but a goodie!!!!!
Discussion
OK, this has probably been discussed on this forum on loads of occassions but as im new here, humour me.
I had my car broke into a couple of years ago. It was only my company Astra but these thick pieces of shi*e had never heard of deadlocks, so after going around smashing every lock and then the bending the door skin below the door catch they decided to smash a rear 1/4 window, they then put their arm in and wound down the window.
They climbed in and nicked my (personally owned) £400 Pioneer stereo, my fault for leaving it in there I suppose, scum, they also nicked my prescription D & G sunglasses, scum, plus several CD's and other bits and pieces, scum, then they wanted to see in my ashtray (where I kept my spare change). Rather than pushing it in to allow it to open, the b*stards used a crowbar and smashed up all the surrounding dashboard.
When I went out in the morning I was understandably furious, but my spirits were lifted when I found a wrist watch in the rear door pocket, it had obviously fallen off when he wound down my window. The watch was the sort of thing you would win at a fairground so rather than keep it I rang the police who asked me to take it down for finger print testing.
The woman who 'dusted' it said there was at least one useable print on it, so she sent it off for analysis.
Have I heard anything since, have I bo**ocks!!!!!
The policewoman said even if I had a video of the bloke doing it with a signed confession they still probably wouldn't press charges as it is was too cost prohibitive.
The reason this winds me up so much is that in the same year I was caught doing 105mph down the A1/M. It was 6.15am, the sun was shining, I was, in all honesty the only car on the road, and it was a triple carriaway section of the motorway.
The BiB were sitting on a junction behind some trees, completley out of sight, they nicked me and I went to court 4 months later.
I was banned for a month and had a £300 fine given to me. If I was a persistant offender then fair enough, but my license was spotlessly clean.
I was very (very) lucky to keep my job (as a field service technician) and thus very lucky that I could keep my house.
Not everyone is as lucky as me though!!!!!
Don't know about you, but this seems just a little unfair to me?????
Surely it's about time that we go over to the 3 strikes and your out like the USA. You get caught nicking 3 times, goodbye for 25 years. you get caught for GBH/ABH 3 times, you had a reason, dont care, see you in 25 years!!!!
You watch, crime will fall overnight and the police can get back to the real important things, like finding my stereo!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We have that system...for motorists (although sometimes less than 3 strikes)
I agree with you mate, I had car stereo nicked a few years ago they also use the crowbar technique (when all it took was 2 clips to release) meaning I had to have a new dashboard. I rang the Police who gave me a 'crime number'
and wrote to me saying something like 'it is unlikely that you will hear from us again on this matter' (translation = we're all too busy persecuting motorists and don't really give a sh1t about your loss) and 'unfortunately there has been a lot of similar crime in this area' (translation = we know that's a dodgy area but we won't do anything about it 'cause we don't care as we're too busy catching speeding motorists) - absolutely f***ing useless!

It's like the moment in Pulp Fiction where Vincent Vega says 'it would almost be worth them doing it if I could catch them at it'
I honestly don't know what I would do if I stumbled upon someone damaging my Audi. Im pretty sure it would be my strike one.
Problem is, i'd be the idiot arrested for causing ABH and get 6 months at HMP whilst he'ed go off to one of those no win no fee toss pot companys and sue me for everything i've got.
I'd just have to make sure any retribution cannot be linked to me I suppose!!!!
Even tonight, I was driving into my local Sainburys when some theiving scum came the wrong way around the rounabout and missed me by inches. I got to the front door and this ttttwwwwaaatttt had stolen a carrier bag off some old dear at the entrance, jumped in his car and shot off. The woman said it only had a couple of quids worth of food in it, but this complete and utter tosser who should have remained as a stain in his dads boxers was willing to cause untold damage to me, my car and any one else on the road.
I'll tell you, I know exactly what he looks like and the car he drives and if I see him out there.....................
