M42 & Paranoid...
Discussion
Just come home from a great hoilday down south.
So trundling up the M% in the Mrs's 323 onto the M42 doing 70 ish I reckon & slowing down accordingly to 50 for the yellow perilled road works.
Got home & advised by a pal that the M42 is littered with speed cameras between the M5 & M6 in addition to those in the road works.
Feeling really sick now - not the end I needed to my holiday.
What's the score with the cameras? Are there loads? I didn't think I was speeding & I spent most of my time in the inside lane but still worried...

Cheers Guys,
But are there any permanent cameras on the M42?

Currently the only camera's are in the road works between just before J4 and J7 about 3 in each direction.
The road works have moved north a few miles and the markerings are still on the road by J3A which always causes the brake lights to come on.
There are speed camera signs on all the new gantries but they are not there yet. The roadworks are actually to turn that part of the M42 into a giant experient. A number of of new "theories" are being trailled including use of hard shoulder at peak time. As you can imagine speed is also a factor. General traffic speed will be measured every 100m and the individual speed of each vehicle (tagged by ANPR) every 500m. Variable speed limits will apply. ANPR will also apply to the slip roads to allow a) slip roads to be controlled by traffic lights and to know where you leave the motorway.
Cheers Bluepolarbear,
I think that's where the paranoia (sp) set in.
Heading Northbound, I remember either filtering off the M5 or M42 (the latter to avoid going down the M40 if you get my drift as I was heading for the M6)
As soon as I filtered, there were signs for 50mph ahead (3/4 miles) but I then saw the markings on the road & at the same time a camera sign on the gantry. Think I was doing 70 so I thought sh*t!
The fact that there were no cars behind me at this point, I put 2 & 2 together and came up with Scamera!
Thanks for your help!
Nick.

watched someone get popped on the '42 on the way back from spectating at the airport...
He was northbound, can't remember which junction it was I'm afraid...
Did you know that you can pay a quid and go up into the viewing gallery at birmingham airport... rather cool place to be...
I have a feeling we'll be there a couple more times this week!!!
