Ive had my license 5+ years, but have only just got my first ever car, so Im new to driving with only 2 months 'actual driving experience' What happened tonight is enough to put a new driver off for life - Im fine, just dont understand it. Its the second similar incident Ive had in 2 weeks.

I was coming home from the pub with my girlfriend, and turned into a street close to home. Luckily, I was accelerating up this particular street slower than usual because suddenly, without warning, a red sports car (going SO bloody fast we barely saw it) doing 60 shot straight ACROSS a give way junction (he was the one required to give way) without stopping

I braked hard enough to give both of us heart attacks, we even pulled over afterwards to compose ourselves. Had I not been been driving as cautiously as I was we would have been *directly* in his path as he sped across the junction like a maniac and without a shred of doubt, at the speed he was doing (60 in a 30 zone ) the nearside impact would have killed my girlfriend or left her very severely crippled

Either he didn't see the junction (it's well lit, on a straight road ) or racing across junctions without stopping late at night is thrilling for some people???

edited to say: Ted/admins, could you remove this post and stick it in speeding-plod-law please/thanks?

.....totally irresponsible, so cannot be a PHer

So you were in an urban area with a 30 limit, where it is clearly dangerous to drive well in excess of limit. That must mean there could not have been a scamera in the area! (oh cynical me)

Apparently not, or they'd have less of the 'need to go warp speed' bug

But please, 60 through a 30 zone without stopping at a blind junction They are begging for a manslaughter charge.

Eastbourne is small, we've had two deaths in the last few months at one set of lights already, and dont need laxxers racing around playing god with junctions
