My girlfriend was coming over to my place the other night, and on the way saw 2 cars stop ahead. As she drew closer, she heard the woman passenger in the car in front screaming her head off, begging her male partner to get back in the car. The male partner walked back to the car behind, also screaming, and smashed the drivers side window. He then got back into his own car and drove off with his wife.
Not sure what transpired, but I saw the glass on the road myself the next day, and despite insisting that girlfriend call the bib just to say she witnessed the crime (to help the poor sod who got attacked with a statment) she didn't.
What, if convicted, might have been the charge for the bloke in the car in front, who was responsible for the assault? Points, ban, fine, jailtime?? How much etc?

My wife and I got road raged on Sunday.
We were travelling down a rural (NSL) main road near Tarleton from Southport towards Preston.
As we approached the traffic lights, some 1/4 mile away, we passed 3 guys on Lambrettas following some cars. As I finally cruised up to the lights I noticed there were about 3 cars in the nearside lane, 2 of which were indicating left. On P1 at the front was another Lambretta. I trickled up in the right hand lane. I glanced at the scooter, but was concentrating on the lights.
As soon as they turned to green I set off, but the lambretta decided to race me. As the road filtered into one laneb some 200 yds further on I passed the scooter without really thinking about it. I didn't have to extend my cars performance to achieve this manouver. (My car is a Honda Civic type R)
Some 1/3 of a mile further on there is another set of traffic lights. As I slowed down to stop behind the car that was already there, I was aware of the scooter bearing down behind me.
I moved to the right of the single lane to allow him room to get to the front of the lights more easily, There is a cycle lane on the n/side so there was stacks of room.
Next thing I hear a skidding tyre from the scooter and he pulls alongside the passenger window mouthing abuse from behind his full face helmet.
I shrug and hold my hands up, puzzled.
He then drives around the front of my car and draws up alongside my door, facing the wrong way. He then pounds his fist on the window. How it didn't break I will never know.
He then went around the back of the car and back to my wifes window as I reached for my mobile and my wife got out a pen and paper.
He then screamed more unintelligble abuse at us and tried to kick the door in.
At this point the lights changed and we were off!
Couldn't get his number as there was no front plate, and was reluctant to do anything as he had 3 other scooters with him.
My wife was pretty upset, but said even as we pulled up alongside him at the lights he was giving the evil eye.
I wouldn't mind, but its not like I am a chav out with a bimbo, I am 50 years young ffs!
I could maybe have calle the police, but it would have been our word against him and his 3 mates. I still cannot think what we did to wind him up.
There are some nutters out there.
BTW, a pal of mine has just bought a stolen recovered RX8 that was used for a robbery.
In the boot was a brand new axe, a hammer and some heavy duty leather gauntlets.
He bought the car at an auction, missing rear seats. After he had bought it a bloke walked up and said, i know where some seats are for that. Phone this guy, handing him a number!!
How can they be so hardfaced?

What a story, how can they do that. I seriously hope the law clamps down ever harder (or is that a bit of an erronus comment) on those who purposely antagonize and terrorize other motorists.
I remember the day I got my TVR, I was driving through town and had a clan of scooters behind me, with one of them driving so close to my tailpipes it could have literally leaned down and touched them.
Had I even breaked a little he would have hit me (just a complete tosser/nutcase) but that is nothing compared to your story.
Edited to say: My point was that the roads are full of complete nutters, its crazyness
I'll never understand them, or why they do what they do.

Here's someone who helped a lady whose car was stolen, and because he broke the thief's nose he was prosecuted. I'm sure the same would happen here.
Now what would happen if you defended yourself against road rage and in the process caused even a minor amount of GBH? Perhaps RR is a nice little earner from the compensation when people react?

just like to share my scooter boyz story :
Walking down the road on the isle of man, down the main "beach" drag. Scooter boy is travelling FAR to close to the car in front, car stops, he does not.
Gets up and starts screaming abuse at the female driver, you tried to kill me, its your fault, I am going to sue you etc.
About 10 people walked over to him and told him that :
He should not use that language.
He was in the wrong.
He was liable for the damge to her car.
The look on his face as people surrounded him and he realised he was not going to be able to bully and lie his way out of this was priceless.

Its the 50 metaton ego's they carry, nitro glycerine in their blood, and "detonators to the ready chaps, we're always ready for some trouble" attitude they foster.
Its good to hear stories of them being brought down to earth.

I find this worrying. I did a self defence course last year, and when I got bored with it moved on to kick boxing. Now, if anyone tries it on with me, I am capable of doing serious damage. In the event, am I supposed to stop and think " better not hit him there, or there, because he might sue me for assault?" How are you supposed to define reasonable force in a defensive situation?

This bothers me too.
Could you say (in court) that 'Hey, I fix cars, how the hell do I know what reasonable force is? I was confronted by someone who might harm me so I stopped him without knowing what could be considered 'reasonable force'
So me and Matt_T16 are sat at some traffic lights in Evesham with a pair of scooter boys sat on the Saab's back bumper, reving their hair-dryers and trying to look mean...
One blue button (launch control ... I think matt pressed it) and a heavy right foot (cue much unburnt fuel, possibly some flame, and popping and banging) and strangely enough the scooter boys moved around us and left the area...
Not road rage, but I thought it was a marvellous way to deal with scooter oiks!

Same way as we are when we're at work and faced with that split second decision, which will then be second guessed and micro analysed by everyobe who wasn't there, including your colleagues, supervisors, complaints people, CPS, Barristers, Judges, juries...
ANd no, the two days training a year we get in "defensive tactics" doesn't hone your thought processes into some supercomputer-like states.

If you can't take a joke. You shouldn't have bought a scooter!
But Liebchen - thought this mode of transport would have been about right for you .... not as if they go very fast ....
Ach Verzeihung - I said I would keep my claws in ....
You started it! you scooter rider you!
