I find it completely astonishing that a public servant should behave in such a way in a public forum. The utter hypocrisy of making a cheap smear in a post entitled "Standards of Behaviour" is terrifying warning to us all of the camera partnership mindset.

Of course it is.
For the record - the Wildkatzen who were making the odd very occasional posts on there are related to me - both were cousins of mine. Neither Joachim, Willi, nor Siegl and Axel (who were visiting at the time and joined in) made any detrimental comments on the site. In fact - the copper on there did respond to them in a responsible manner - unlike Steve who either did not or made some unprofessional jibe.
What Steviebabes does not know is that Axel happens to be a policeman based in Southern Germany...and Siegl has something to do with roads and laws...They have since returned home and the others have simply been busy.
In fact - the only things I have alluded to on here are Steve's own daft comments which I see when checking his talivan timetables. Namely - his advice on overtaking, his daft advert on the back of a bus, the nasty speed trap at Ings and his favourite on the A66 which tests easily all too eay oversight regarding whether or not a two lane road is a dual or single carriageway - which catches out the majority and is thus lucrative as opposed to dangerous. Both mad Doc and I have expressed concerns on here that the M6 section in particular appears to be suffering from more accidents since his vans appeared than it did before...
But then again - what can you expect from arrogant fools who cannot take constructive (as opposed to negaative) criticism ....
I am also baffled at this when nearly all the posts on this forum are made by Strassen
who despite our little crunch - makes valuable comments - and most to do with complying with the law.... SteveCallaghan said:

Hiya Steveiebabes!
You little Speedfinder General You!
You gonna stay - I promise not to claw you too much
Explain the overtaking thing please....
Oh - and do you think you can campaign to have an EU NSL lollipop given the two speed limits .... after all - they may take notice of you being a Speed Finder Gauleiter... You Stasi you!

Nice to see camera partnership employees showing such respect for the public that employs them.. "bleating" eh?
Perhaps you should be asking why the public is "bleating"?

SPL is available to members only .. whats wrong with that?
Stevie dear boy if there was censorship you'd be kicked out. At least questions asked here get answered unlike on your forum. The silence on some issues - such as the rise in fatalities on the Brtish roads - there is deafening.
I just tried to join Cumbria Safety Cameras Forum because I want to know what it is like 'on the other side'. It gets a little tedious when everyone here just agrees with each other, so I want to discuss a few points with others who have opposing opinions.
However, when I tried to register, it displayed the following error messages:
'menu has been disabled'
'The error returned was: Sorry, you are not permitted to use this board'
Why is this? I have a screen capture if anyone is interested.
some cynical person may think this is the ultimate form of censorship, considering that I'm a regulat poster on PH

"There's no censorship here"
There most definitelty is
In a technical sense there probably is. However the clear implication of "censorship" in this sort of context is the suppression of opinion and clearly this does not take place.
This is the OED definition of "censor":
1 Hist. Either of two magistrates in ancient Rome who compiled censuses of its citizens, etc., and supervised public morals. M16.
2 A person who exercises supervision or judgement over the conduct or morals of others. L16.
3 An adverse critic; a person who censures or finds fault. Now rare. L16.
4 An official with the power to suppress the whole or parts of books, plays, films, etc., on the grounds of obscenity, seditiousness, etc. M17.
b An official who, esp. in times of war, is empowered to censor private letters, news reports, etc. E20.
5 Psychol. [mistr. G Zensur censorship (Freud).] A mental power by which certain anxiety-provoking unconscious ideas and memories are prevented from emerging into consciousness. E20.B v.t. Act as censor of; officially inspect and make deletions or changes in (a book, film, article, letter, etc.). L19.
But I'm sure we all recognise and accept a clear distinction between moderation (which is sensible) and censorship (which is unacceptable).

I think they've given up taking new members as it seems Setevie and the boys are surprised that people disagree with them.
I've been trying to work out exactly what the Cumbria Forum is actually for. I've even asked the question. No doubt that question will also remain unanswered, like so many others.
Ian, the police officer on there really does try to asnswer those questions which he is able to give a proper reply to, and his attitude is quite positive. However, the Speedfinder-General (Monsewer Callaghan) usually replies with sarcasm and in a dismissive way.
When it was suggested recently that the idea of not allowing new registrations was to eventually close the forum, Kevin tea indicated that it would not be closed as it 'gave amusement and entertainment to guests visiting the site', or words to that effect. So, the site is open not to promote an interghange of ideas and to answer questions about the effectiveness of the silly cameras, but to provide amusement for visitors to the site.
The 'Cumbria Silly Camera Pratnership' simply will not answer the question about casualty figures at qualifying, but so-far un-monitored sites.
It seems that the best thing to do is to make sure you have a Road angel and a laser jammer when in their area.
Their Forum started off as quite a good sounding board for ideas and suggestions, but it is increasingly clear that they won't answer sensible questions and just want to keep on collecting the money.

Firstly PH isn't anti-camera. PH is inanimate and cannot have an opinion. However some of the members are anti-camera but most are anti the abuse of cameras.
Secondly the section isn't hidden from the public. It's only visible to member but membership is free and immediate. To imply that PH has some secret agenda is disingenuous and probably trying to distract attention from the real issue.
