stopped by police over a year ago and i had no driving licence, have not heard anything about it from them , i now want to get a licence , would the no licence come up when i do apply for one ?
IIRC it's 9 points for no licence.Does that mean that as a probationer you'd lose you're licence immediately?

No it isn't. It's 3 points for driving otherwise than in accordance. I'm surprised they haven't also gone for no insurance as well though?Does that mean that as a probationer you'd lose you're licence immediately?
In any case your best bet would be to contact DVLA.
Unless you have been disqualified then there shouldn't be a problem in applying for a licence.

6 points for no insurance isn't it? And if you have no licence you have no insurance which would make 9 points, or is it not that simple? In any case your best bet would be to contact DVLA.

3-6 for no licence (fixed penalty is 3) and 6-8 for no insurance (fixed penalty is 6) ( linky). However if you're convicted of two offences committed on the same occasion you usually only get the points for the more serious one (another linky, subsection 4), so 6-8 in total.

Interesting, I never knew that, thanks!6 or more points before he gets a licence wouldn't mean his licence was revoked as soon as he passed his test (that would be a bit silly), but it would mean that any further points at all within 2 years of passing would mean his licence was revoked.
I thought that if you got 6 points within your first 2 years of driving, you had to retake your test? Does that not count if you already have those points? Does it also apply to people re-doing their test, or just for people passing the first time?
It's not 100% correct to say "6 points within 2 years of passing your test". Your licence is revoked if, in the two years after you pass your test, you're convicted of an offence which brings your points total to 6 or more ( legislation). So points acquired before you pass your test are carried over into the probationary period, but if you already have 6 on the day you pass it doesn't mean your licence revoked immediately, it just means it gets revoked as soon as you get some more points.
Actually having 3 points on the day you pass has much the same effect, if you ignore the fact that there are a couple of obscure offences which can get you a mere 2 points.
The probationary period only applies once ( link). If you get 6 or more points, have your licence revoked, and retake your test then a further 6 points won't mean it gets revoked again. However all the points remain active for 3 years and this isn't affected by the revocation, so depending on the timescales you'd probably now have 12, and you'd be looking at a totting ban.
