I was on the M62 going through the roadworks near Leeds the other day and wondered if anybody had ever been prosecuted by exceeding the 50 mph limit on the sections where the average speed cameras operate?
Everyone seems to obey the limit, but I wondered if anybody has ever risked going over the limit and what the outcome was.

Everytime I've been through that stretch it would have been impossible to get anywhere near!

As has already been said, the sheep-like mentality of many motorists in roadworks means that the issue of speeding does not arise.

But, in exactly the same way as with fixed and mobile cameras, a tolerance is given. When I get the chance, I rattle through 50-limited SPECS monitored roadworks at an indicated 50-55, and I haven't had any nice letters from any Chief Constables yet.

That said, the over read on most cars would mean that an indicated 55 would be unlikely to be more than a couple of mph above the limit.

But what bugs me even more are those fecking idiots driving at 40 in a 40, see a camera and slow to 28 ..... rolleyes

Again?? We do this once a month.

M62? Don't know any figures, but the M1 widening J25-J28 caught c.400 per week for the past couple of years. Can't see the M62 being significantly different.

Not on m62 but quiet m4 at the end of a long day and drove through at the start of them at 70mph and then realised not fair in and slowed to 50.
Recieved 57 in a. 50 and 3points £60.

Speed awareness course for 55 in the average speed cameras on the M5 north of Bristol. I maintain that I was simply keeping up with the flow, and wonder just how many other poor saps got the NIP too?
