I was flashed by a Gatso last night
in the A40 into London just before
the tunnel under the Hanger Lane
gyratory. I know the road well - it's a 40 limit and I was doing 38
when the flashes occurred. There were no other vehicles close enough to have set it off. The only chink in my defence is that I might have been a couple of mph above the limit a few seconds earlier. Is it possible that somehow the camera measured the higher speed before I got to the lines on the road but only flashed me when I'd arrived there? If so, which evidence would take precedence in court - the camera's measured speed, or the speed calculated from the distance travelled between the two photographs?

It may have been set wrong, or triggered in error, or by something you didn't see. The two photographs taken on the markings are the corroboration of the measured speed, so if they try to do you insist on seeing the photos.

What! 38mph at night on a three lane dual carriageway with little or no traffic around? PLEASE THINK OF THE CHILDREN!

The same thing happned to me in Long Lane down the other end of the A40 by Hillingdon. Never heard anything but like said above there there might have something else that triggered it.
