What's that they say about the line between success and failure being tiny? The towing eye must have been humungous.

The fact it hit your B-Pillar suggests to me that he was still moving out as you passed him?

I agree, pics of this would be interesting, I can't imagine what a bang that must have made!

Reno? You should have shot the man, just to watch him die, surely?

I don't think the problem you describe has anything to do with towing eyes - but has everything to do with the way 25-year old cars are massively more flimsy than modern ones.

The crash was last year, I did have pics but lost them since, I get the car back soon, I promise to post some if/when I get the wreckage back.

Funnily: I managed to chuck the B-pillar and door in the boot and drive home, I did think it was a bit* of a puller though.
So what was your legal outcome?

if he was reversing out onto a main road then it's his fault obviously, isn't it illegal to reverse onto a main road?

cba: Welcome and everything, but why are you telling us this story? Is there a point you'll be getting to sometime soon?

No he wasn't reversing, He was *Emerging* forwards from side road, I was on main road, he appeared to stop then rammed me as I passed him, towing eye hit
If my grasp of English is correct, he had a towing eye on the front.

Why was that, then...?

What about this front/rear question..?

Why are you bothered about the towing eye? If you were on the main road, it was his fault. That's all you need.

Yay I can use quote!

: This being a big car community I hoped someone may have had a similar crash or know someone who did and be able to tell me what the outcome is likely to be, e.g 3rd party completely to blame(which I'm sure he will be).

Thing is there's no black and white in law so, selfishly, I want to read up on outcomes of similar crashes to feel more guaranteed I'll get a settlement out of it, and, unselfishly share a mad story (which I'll add pics to at a later date for your amusement smile
Ah looking again I see there is a question in your OP. Fair enough, carry on.

I think some barry boys think they look good, perhaps as if they forgot to remove it after a track day or something.

I've seen plenty of people merrily driving around with a towing eye still screwed into the front of their car, must break down so often they can't be arsed to remove it.

Ah, right. Thought we were talking caravan here. Can't imagine a front eye sticking out as far as that. DIY parking sensor, perhaps...?

bigger eyes on flatter fronted cars or where they bolt on closer to the centre line can stick out 3 inches or so.
