This happened to me friday. Cut up by BMW, coming out off side road without looking straight in front of me. Proceeded to accelerate quickly in 30 area.

I am not happy.

Proceed for a few more miles. Catch him up, and overtake. He then gets the raving hump and keeps wanting to overtake me (on A road with slow queue of traffic), eventually he does, I can't be bothered to be a tit. He overtakes me and van in front.

And now for the worrying bit, coming up to a congested roundabout, he stops in front of van, hazards on and proceeds towards me - I pull around van (having left space between me and him as I would always do) missing him and scream off from agressive looking guy. Get stuck on roundabout and BMW comes screaming up trying to push me into island and cut me off. I manage to escape (somehow) with big scrape to osr alloy). This bloke was nuts! Don't have index and haven't reported it. What would you do, should I have done differently. I took the view to fly rather than fight. This was near thame.

Cheers

Ah, the joys of a MASSIVE and definatly not factory fit towing eye on the back of the shed........

No really you have to be aware at all times not just the traffic stuff but just whats in their heads as well.
Used to get suckered in by this in the past but now have learnt and just treat them with the contempt they deserve 'cos one day they'll do it to the wrong person(s) and just let them go (and don't "get your own back" by daring to overtake 'em either)

Firstly...my sympathies with your. I hope you're ok now..

I think the original overtake by you to prove a point might have been the catalyst in the incident. I'm a big believer in keeping knobheads in front of my vehicle in slow or reasonable moving traffic. The last place I want them is an inch from my rear bumper or in a position where they can follow me...

There are numerous tossers like the guy you encountered, out there on the roads and you must really learn to distance yourself from them and leave them to their silly little games. They will come unstuck soon, as they'll either try it on with a Bib or a 'Kenneth Noye' type...

spot on!

I have always thought this. Had mates in the car with me before when I have pulled right in to let some scummy zorstfest maxpower cretin past when they have been on my ar*e and they have said "Why did you let him past?" etc etc.

Because, although I dont actually like my car very much, I would rather not have burberrys finest or some fine precision German engineering embedded in my boot, thanks very much

Very much the same principle for the bike (but then again its quite hard to tailgate me on that )

streetcop, yep I think you are right. too many nutters around. it scares me what some people may do. not what i may do, because i would not enven contemplate violence agaibnst another person in this situation. however, if threatened as I was I am a firm believer in surviving!

Absolutely..survive and do so at any cost...

However, avoidance is much better. It's not cowardice or not being a 'man', it's common sense and using your brain....

I've stopped many motorist who have got all sorts of weapons in their cars and screws loose 'up top'...not the sort of people you want to be ticking off when your with your wife and kids and they 'cut you up.'.

Leave 'em to me......

I don't understand your first Paragraph. Are you saying the BMW pulled out of a side street in front of you?

car pulled out of side road without looking (that I could see), passed give way line at about 30-50mph.

I guess the whole episode shook me up and should be a warning to fellow p'hers to be aware of the nutters around.

Got it. I'm not doubting your take on this but the fact you mention BMW does make me think - about you not him.

Okay the guy pulled out obviously knowing he could accelerate out of your way - Or maybe he simply didn't see you until he pulled out so took action to get out of your way.

You thought he was a nob, some of which comes from the car he was driving and you overtake him to teach him a lesson. Did you overtake in the 30? Was you overtake safe?

I think perhaps you over-reacted to his pulling out and as others have said about this guy 'coming across the WRONG person' you infact came across the wrong person to mess around with.

Must point out I have two BMWs and it doesn't go un-noticed when people deliberatly perform moves just to get in your way, such as speeding up or overtaking you in a 30 because you overtook them perfectly safely in a NSL.

Sorry if I've taken the wrong view on what happened and perhaps the guy is a nutter, but bare that in mind next time you start 'showing people'.

Ah right you've post more info whilst I was typing.

If he crossed the Giveway at 50 then I'd suggest either he could see it was safe to go or he was drunk - judging by his reaction he was drunk, so sorry for my above rant.

Absolutely right Gary if I may say so.

Although I'm a notorious disregarder of the NSL I do not get into competitions involving speed or overtaking with other drivers. I'll compete any day in a defensive driving competition though - I really do try to make a good job of that - and unless someone can suggest anything better I think that is the best policy.

If you get into a serious conflict with another road user these days you just don't know what you might be faced with and I fear the situation is deteriorating.

Best wishes all,
Dave.

woodytvr, yep, I can understand your scepticism. I was annoyed at bmw pulling a blind pull out. didn't overtake in 30 limit. caught him up in nsl open a road (with good visibility, safe overtake etc etc.) That's when the fun fun began.

I have nothing against bmw drivers! My dad has two too. this could have been anyone, the cause was the person behind the wheel!

Hope it answers more questions!

Off to change a nappy!
