NSL on a Dual Carriageway.....
Discussion
Hi Chaps.....I too have a 'friend' involved in a traffic offense!!
He was driving down a piece of NSL dual carriageway near Silverstone, having just been on a trackday. Apparently noticed some flashes behind him, looked down at speedo and was doing somewhere near 110mph in his XK8.
I believe that the NSL on a DC is 70mph??
I think that he's got to hope that the camera was out of film.....he proceeded to turn a bit pale while we read the bits on ukspeedtraps about likely penalties and bans. Looks like he's looking at a 14-56 day ban and up to a grand fine. He has no previous convictions for 4 years (one Sp30 has just come off his license), and nothing before that for 12 years. Is there any hope that the magistrate will be lenient and just give him points and a fine?
Cheers,
J.

Thanks Street; I thought as much but you never know. I told him about the 14 day rule thing (he is the registered keeper and owner of the car), and I guess on a road like that, he has a fair chance of the camera being out of film (rear firing, so I'm assuming a Gatso), or vandalised ;-)

I've been flashed a few times and have yet to get a NIP.
More Importantly : Bloke at work was photographed at 107 mph in a 205 turbo diesel on M62 and did his own mitigation. He got off with no ban. He had supporting letters from a major customer and our MD and technical Director explaining that this was out of character and that it would have an effect on his ability to do his job.
I was amazed !
Best not to mention the Track day or they fact that he was in a rush, or that he was not attentive to his speed but : more that he knew he was speeding and had only been tempted because the day was fine and dry and there was no other traffic and he thought it would be safe to do so ? Perhaps he might mention that he was too busy concerntrating on the road.
Or does he have an infirm granny ?

There are no rear facing cameras on that stretch of road only front Truv's,in fact there are no rear facing camera's in Northamptonshire. I know this because I travel on that road 2 or 3 times a week.
So I dont know what it was but it wasn't a camera
Quite correct the A43 has 1 camera between Silverstone and the M40 each side forward facing.
There is also one M1 to Silverstone A43
These are Truv and therefore no flash
G Man
PS They don't work if you travel faster than 180mph

I know .... >> Edited by G Man on Monday 20th September 19:12
