Was motoring along, and observed a copper with a radar gun just up ahead. I slowed down (probably rather late) but didnt know the area, or the limit. I thought it might have been 30, girlfriend thought it was 40, and I was doing about 40 when I was gunned... ish, I dont even know which makes matters worse... i think.

If I was speeding, would I have definitely (without doubt) been waved/pulled over there and then? edited to say: As opposed to being sent something in the post. Girlfriend recons if I was speeding, I would have been pulled over, says they dont send you anything in the post, either they pull you there and then, or they dont.

Depends what he had in his hand.....

If it was something like a pro laser...then you'd have been pulled in...

If it was a LTI with video recorder, then you'll get it in the post..

Best of luck for the next 14 days...

You can ask and I did once. Had been out for a quick blat with a 7 owner only to come round a corner to see a Scamera van. Softly on the anchors and went past at a reasonable speed but wasn't sure if we / I'd been "got" before I hit the brakes.
5 mins later, turned around, went down the same bit of road again (dead on 50 this time ...), pulled up and had a quick chat to the copper. Nice enough guy to be honest, he had very high limits that day. Said he'd seen me then seen me clock him and slow down so said he didn't bother targeting me.
Big sighs of relief ...

Sounds like a reasonable and sensible chap. Bet he wasn't one of those civvie 'jobsworths' they seem to be intent on using.

I've also gone back and asked, twice actually on both occasions they had reasonably high limits set. The first time the officer just wanted to talk about the car and was surprised he had not seen it before being a local guy.
The second time i dont think the guy was very happy and just "NO not this time"....
