What can I say? Drove down from Reading to Llandeilo on the M4 yesterday and was quite shocked for my 1st trip down there in a while.

I'd heard all the stories, but nothing prepared me for the sheer forests of camera signs. I didn't see any Talivans (probably a bad thing...) but did see a few patrol cars on the bridges.

I can only say that the populace of S Wales has been brain-washed...they appeared quite happy to be doing 50-60mph in the outside lane of the 2 lane M4

It also seemed perfectly reasonable to be doing 30-40mph in rural NSL areas

I guess my record of 2hr45mins for Llandeilo to Amersham will stand for ever

RIP

I visit freinds in Pembrokeshire a few times a year, travelling from Derby. I used to take the lazy route, M42/M5/M50/M4 motorway all the way, but now you just cant travel briskly on any of that route without serious risk to licence.

The route I always take now is across country on the back roads, Stafford/Shrewsbury/Llandindrod Wells/Builth/Llandovery/Camarthen. The roads are fantastic, virtually no traffic, no bib, no cameras, big fun and actually a quicker journey time too.

I assume the A40 from Ross to Llandeilo is just as bad as the M4?

Probably is, but I stay off the A40 until I hit it at Camarthen. I sort of head west from the midlands, then due south right through the middle of Wales.

Pah. Not all that bad. How did the P and P drives go today? Saw a good few out and about but no scamera's. There will be on the M ways but they are not fun to hoon on.

Perhaps we like to keep the miff going so as we can get the best roads to ourselves

Have to agree Puggit OM! Same trouble Northbound to Scotland. Just got back from M6-M74-M9-A73-A9 run.

Same thing there, Motorists too frightened to pass each other at more than 1 mph, more traffic bunching than a tree full of bananna's, same car's same lorries, same coaches around you as was there 100 miles ago, you can meet new friends on Motorways now. I found it very reminiscent of America 25 yrs ago (i.e. the double nickel social club) Very hypnotic AND very dangerous, accidents MUST be up!

One incident happened two bridges north of junc. 33 (A6) sthbound M6. Some twazark in a estate car had decided to do a three point turn on the overhead bridge, showing his rear-hatch to on-coming traffic beneath. Some cars responded by slamming on their brakes, others ....carried on! you can imagine the result. It was a very close thing that no-one collided, and what from? no-one was doing more than 72 mph anyway!! FEAR of camera's that's what! brake first then check your speed. Self preservation.

If any of you camera pratts are reading this take note! it's only a question of time before the fear of your activities causes a very serious accident, and people then come forward in a court to give evidence against YOU. I hope they take you for every penny you've got! Incidently: Thank you for making the motorways so (un)safe!

Incidently Puggit, As speeds are now so low I've taken to games to occupy my time whilst driving so slowly. I've nearly completed my "Eddie Stobart Spotters Book" and I'm looking for something more challenging. Maybe the "Unmarked Police Car Guide", what do you think, any idea's. Some of our HGV operatives may have some suggestions: keep it clean Gentlemen please.
