On Wednesday 6th October, 9:30pm, Men&Motors Channel on satalite....

Program about Trafpol in Cumbria and Southern Scotland...some scenes on Bikers and some on HGV's i'm led to believe...

For those Pistonheaders with satelite, there should be some decent content on the program to discuss afterwards...

Most of these are repeats, or re-hashes of clips from other programs.

I've seen quote a few of these programs (there seem to be loads on Men&Motors) and would like to raise the following points in advance :

1) 90% of the criminals seem to get let off very lightly, or no charges are brought whatsoever. Example from the other night - Car thief reverses into Trafpol to try to escape, drives at over 100mph through towns, has no insurance, or licence. Punishment - 2 year driving ban!

2) So much police effort seems to be wasted sorting out pissheads on a Fri/Sat night! What a waste of resources, and a job I dont envy the police for.

3) A lot of the trafpol cars seem to be single crewed, which when chasing a car full of scrotes is hardly ideal. Wouldn't it be better to work in pairs?

4) So many car criminals seem to be kids! One 14yr old kid again rammed a police car trying to escape, and got a 2 yr drivign ban.. HES 14 FFS. I hope that starts when he finally is old enough to drive.. although i doubt hes gonna bother taking his test somehow.

These programs just seem to make me so angry as to how real criminals get an easy ride from the justice system.

Yes, especially where I work - even TrafPol get tied up with this!

Yes... except there's only one traffic officer for the whole division (which includes the UK's largest tourist resort...).

StreetcrimeUK on bravo usually leaves me feeling both livid at the justice sytem and amazed at the patient approach adopted by the BiB. If some druken scrote had just threatened me and then spat at me I wouldn't be able to resist cleaving him down the middle with the side handled baton.... instead they lock him in the back of the van and spend the next 4 hours doing paper work 'cos bazza from Norwich (or where ever) was unable to control his behaviour after a few beers

You'll find a lot of patience on programs like Streetcrime UK is because of the cameras..

However, saying that, there was an episode last week that was shot up in Sheffield about an inspector and his team policing a football match. They got stuck into the hooligans..rounded them up...described them as irritations and dealt with them fairly, yet extremely firmly..

I just hope when you see some of the crap sentences that are dished out to the crims after the BiB have done a good job, will go some way to appropriating blame to the right body of people..

The Traffic Cops series is always watchable and probably the best of the lot..IMHO

Yeah I've watched a few of the Sky police programmes lately ...

My favourite was when 3-4 copppers were chasing some scrote with a meat cleaver, they bundled him onto the ground and as they did, one of the police shouted "Camera! Camera!" and I can only assume they restrained themselves from giving the guy a good kicking like they normally (should) do

Watched Traffic Cops earlier.

Don't like the fact that I can get £60 + 3 if the twat sitting next to me decides to stick his arse out of his window......

I'm deemed responsible for his actions. How the hell am I supposed to restrain him whilst driving?

Justice, this is not.....

Yes, I wondered about that example. In the general case of an adult passenger refusing to wear a seat belt, it was my understanding that the driver can not be held responsible and prosecuted for that. Is that really the case?

Best wishes all,
Dave.

sad bit of policig really IMO
do him for no seat belt but to nick him for the pasenger then let the pasenger off cos he's a kid and too hard to deal with was a cop out!

better to nick both or warn both! not good reasoning

"You are judged by the company you keep"

To answer TripleS' question...For simple no seat belts, you are responsible for those children under 14. 14 and above, becomes their responsibility. However, the manner in which they are carried is YOUR responsibility. ie: handing out of windows. 6 in a car etc etc

Hi Streetcop.
I watched Traffic Police last night ( Mon 4th Oct ) and the teenage "drivers" are a ing nightmare for the Police. All that chasing the Fiat Panda driven by chavs who had not the slightest respect for the Police. In the end, the "punishment" was non existant. A more serious question must surely be " WHERE THE F*** WERE THE PARENTS" I honestly believe that there are too many "parents" who should'nt have had their kids ( you know the ones hatched due to dark alley fumblings ) because they have absolutely no intention or idea of bringing them up properly. The kids are allowed to run riot and "have a 'larf" nicking motors and playing games with the Police. I mean, a Fiat Panda trying to out run a Police Volve FFS!! Bad parenting is causing all manner of problems for the Police which never happened years ago, because we were brought up properly and to respect others ( inc the Police ) and their property.

Check mirrors, stop car, smack him in gob. Wind window up. Problem solved.

watched it last night too - fair play to the cop who after looking round the garden for those car keys thought "hang on, back of my own car" and found em! I'd never have thought the little git would have had the brass ones to do that!
