Doing 45 in a 50 last night, a Gatso flashed me. So I went to the Police station today and it transpires it is temporarily a 30 limit. So bummer I cannot imagine that 45 in 30 will result in anything but a ticket. I have 6 points already so that is really bad news. My wife has offered to pick up the offence. Does anyone know for sure if the Gatso takes a picture of the cabin? There was only myself in the car and the Vette is left hand drive.

Any signs up saying it's a temporary 30mph limit. What can you see as you approach it. If you can't see anything take photo's.

Unfortunately not as simple as that, it never is. Dual carriageway in town with a bridge over a junction circle. The bridge is being strengthened so has a 30 limit. You come over the bridge and back to normality and a 100 yds on or so the camera. The Police told me that over the next bridge over another exit, the one I take, are now some more roadworks so the buggers have extended the 30 along the clear stretch between the two bridges. And yes, I checked tonight, there are some small 30mpg circle signs which I never noticed. You are on auto pilot and why on earth would the limit not be 50 when you have cleared the roadworks you know about and have a clear road in front !!!(triple carriageway at this stage). I am pissed because I think they should have had some larger more notcieable 30mph signs up to make it clear it was still 30, but they had signs up and I doubt I have a case to appeal.

There is an arguement that small repeater signs in a 30mph zone render the limit unenforceable....

If you licence is at risk...spend some money on a brief..

Hi yellowshark,

Go to PePiPoo (http://pepipoo.com/NewForums2/index.php). There are some guys over there who know there stuff with regards to signage and such like.

The rules are different when it's dark you know! The authorities often slip up with regards to legislation.

Good luck

wasn't there a survey that showed a large %age of roadwork signage wasn't up to the appropriate standard?

Get down there with a camera, before they change it

Thanks a lot for your help guys. I normally just hang around on the Corvette Forum so your comments are really appreciated. I checked last night and there is not a single sign down the left hand side, ie pavement of the triple carriageway so I am definitely going back tomorrow with camera to photo the entire section is preparation should the dreaded envelope arrive!
