42 in a 30.. what to do?

friend of mine has had a ticket (via scammers with a gun) for doing 42 in a 30..

there were allegedly no speed signs in the area..

what are the loopholes that work at the moment regarding this?

what about the calibration certificates for the guns? what is the procedure there?

If the road is streetlit and residential, then the driver should assume a 30 limit if there are no signs. Ignorance is no excuse. If there is a problem with signs missing etc... get some photos.

what I thought.. but just wanted to check..

if you've been given the ticket/paperwork there and then, does that constitute your 'pleading guily' and thus negate any right to argue the case later?
