I finished work this morning and headed home on my road bike. I was minding my own business and passed 2 park cars, pulled is sharpish to let the van pass that was following me and the passenger spat a load of fruit squash at me. I was f
king fuming! I've had people shout, toot and be a pain but that was just disgusting! I remembered the company bit not the rev so rang them this morning and complained. As I'm on nights they said they would ring me at 1600, no doubt with wasn't us guv, well see?

I'm sure your description will let them know exactly who was in that area at that time. If you don't get the response from the company in question, name and shame them on forums and social networking sites. Google results are often much more powerful than complaining to the company. I'd also consider calling the police.

Quite a few years back a guy I work with was out in a car with a load of his mates. They passed a cyclist and thought it would be funny to slap his arse as they went past. The cyclist reported it to the Police and they got into quite a bit of bother. I can't remember all the details though.

This happened on a Sunday club run a while back, a builders van slapped a lady on the arse as they passed her. They ended up in quite a bit of bother iirc.You might get a result, in the past few years I've had:
- A guy that was driving a company van like a maniac on the A1. Forcing people over, trying to overtake through the middle of the two lanes. The worst driving I have ever seen- like something out of a film. I rang (handsfree) the company number and left a running commentary on their voicemail.
They sent a senior chap out meet me and took a statement. Rang me a few weeks later to say he had been sacked and his colleague with him in the van was put on a final warning.
- Reported a British Gas van for overtaking another car on a zebra crossing on his phone whilst we were waiting to cross. Didn't get his reg but they tracked him down and, I'm told, disciplined him.
- Some scaffolders working near my office hadn't marked off the path as closed so I kept walking down it only to find I had to retrace my steps. They decided this was a good reason to shout abuse - not kind of friendly taking the mickey stuff but quite offensive. I took a photo of side of their truck, got in to office and called the company. Their boss (small firm I think) sent them round to apologise. The two of them were literally (baseball) cap in hand, it was actually quite pathetic.
So it can work.
