Offload your points onto me, says eBayer
He'll take your penalty points -- but is it legal?
Fancy getting rid of your penalty points? It'll cost you five grand, but eBayer dorsborne1 is auctioning clear space on his licence for anyone with points.
The eBayer says, "Simply name me as the named driver for your speeding ticket (subject to me qualifying for insurance on your vehicle at time of offence) and avoid getting the points put onto your own licence. I currently have a completly clean licence so I figure that having 3 points on it wouldn't make much difference."
One would have to question just how legal this is -- and whether the auction will be allowed to run its course. The auction runs out in six days.

Of course this is not legal, but the police/government don't care about that, they are only after the revenue. They won't attempt to confirm who was driving, though I've heard they may confirm the insurance details (the seller has thought of this already, smart guy).
I wonder if the seller is a PHer (the pic used on eBay is the same as the usual speed cam pic on PH).
The link on PH does not work (at least not for me).
Mate, you should put a counter on your item, then we can all see how many hits your auction is getting!
Also, if you're serious, maybe lower the starting price to 99p and set a reserve price of what you actually want. I'd suggest updating the title with some phrases like "radar detector" or "speed camera" too.

Of course if you were serious, it would be attempting to pervert the course of justice, which normally (or frequently?) carries a prison sentence.

You know I could see this developing into a very interesting test case. Just think about it for a moment. Why or how is it perverting the course of justice, the FP is getting paid and the points allocated to a licence?
The Crown would have to prove that dorsborne was NOT driving, the very antithesis of what they would normally be trying to prove!!
If they could not see this from the camera pic how else could they do it?
The police can do nothing right now, no offence of any sort has been committed so far; they could only construe that it had been after money had changed hands and the NIP had been signed by dorsborne.

No they wouldn't. In order for him to be guilty of attempting to pervert the course of justice, they would only have to prove that he is guilty of ... attemtpting to pervert the course of justice. Which he is by advertising.

The NCIS (who I believe surf this site) will likely demand that eBay release details of the buyer. You could also be set up by the NCIS. Then it’s only a matter of time before.......
You probably should not have admitted to owning the auction on PH. Still, it’s a laugh.

Steady on old son. I certainly wouldn't dream of messing with their computers.
However it may not be coincidence. I resigned over censorship, and if they are trying to remove things from their message database, that might be breaking it.
On the other hand, it looks like common or garden Microsoft crashes to me. It probably just needs rebooting.
