Gatso's Get The Chop

A dozen speed cameras are being taken down from West Midlands roads because they don't meet Government rules.

Two have already gone from Coventry Ringway as they're not easily visible to drivers. A third in Solihull, along with nine others in Birmingham and Wolverhampton, are also earmarked for removal.

I sense them being moved to new locations (where they can catch the unwary).

You know, they could save a fortune re-assessing and removing scameras if they started a voluntary scheme...

Hey Blues - I have to say that the government makes me extremely cynical, and as such, I have to agree.

While it's good to see fund-raiser Gatsos being removed, I wonder if they're just getting replaced by Talivans, which seem to have far fewer rules about where they can be placed, and these days are much better disguised than Gatsos.

At least a Talivan is always going to be a lot more expensive to operate than a Gatso so they can't afford as many of them....

Yeah but they catch twice as many people because you dont know what they are until after they have caught you (which is obviously in the name of road safety... of course!)

Just been looking at the West Mids "Safety" Camera partnership site. It confirms that the de-installed cameras will be moved elsehwere.

There's also some pretty amazing stuff on there. How about this one for a start:
