Whilst searching for a link to a news story in the local rag I came across this gem harking back to a speeding case in 1900.

The current one I will have to type out, here goes including all the possible errors.

"Ignored Speeding Fine"

A driver who failed to acknowledge a speeding fine and did not attend court was convicted of failing to supply information to the DVLA.

The court heard how C.P. of Kidderminster, was caught travelling at 61mph in a 50 mph area on Sunday march 21, but failed to respond to the fine notice.

The 27 year old ignored further reminders and one charge of failing to supply information to the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency was proved in her absence last month.

P, who did not attend court, was disqualified from driving for six months, fined £220 and ordered to pay costs of £35 by Worcester magistrates.
end

Just to add fuel to the fire, if offence is where I think it was the 50 used to be a 70 dual, but the signing is legal...... finally!

Clearly the person CP was named plus address in the article, but not necessary for that to be posted in PH in my opinion.

OK , as they say....... discuss, write on one side of the paper only.

Interesting that diesel ed knows it is a she.

Apeears nobody wants to comment on 6 months ban for a failing to identify offence without presence in court?
Whilst disqualification is discretionary thought a court appearance was mandatory?

Good old shuttle times, only 104 years behind the news.

You'll probably find a Vulcan reading it on the ship's computer on the Enterprise as it reaches the edge of the Delta quadrant at warp 6, and he'll doubtless make a remark about speed enforcement in the 21st century being "totally illogical Captain"

...and notice the "what-ifs" that we still get now...if there was a car coming the other way ten minutes earlier!!!...? What a stupid thing to say.

I suggest: maybe the driver would then have only been doing 5mph, in other words he may well have been travelling at a speed appropriate to the circumstances at the time.

They did consider a speed camera as a result, but it needed a full time operator to change the photographic plates and hold the flash powder aloft.
