Average Speed Cameras

Just wondering, has anyone been done by these? Some people just tank through them as though they aren't there which makes me ask if they know something we don't?

There are myths about them such as if you change lanes you mess the reading? Is it from start of the zone to the end or between cameras that you are measured so you can be done at a point midway through the section?

I never chance my arm with them but does anyone know for sure how these things work?
