as above really, when I put my reg no into askmid , or any of the sites that give insurance quotes it comes up as a different make / model of car.
Is this something I can a) change and b) be worried about?

I'm about to give the car to my daughter and I don't want it to cause her any problems

thanks

It could just be an admin. error putting in the info to the askmid/insurance databases, or it may be the DVLA info is wrong.
The DVLA info for my car is wrong (same engine size, but different trim spec/engine with far lower power output).
Whenever I get insurance quotes the wrong info is pulled down and I have to manually correct it.
Even then the wrong info is sometimes entered on askmid.
If the basis of your insurance is on the wrong info, obviously you have a problem.
If your insurance is valid and only askmid is wrong, you have potential for inconvenience if stopped by the police.

Not all insurance databases are compatible with the MID one as far as groups and makes of vehicles are concerned. I know of a vehicle that shows 'Vehicle Make/Model: DUMP CODE PRIVATE CAR GROUP 002'. The insurance company have confirmed this is all legitimate and as it appears to be accepted by the askmid database then I can only presume it is.

I think askmid must get the car details from the same database that the insurance companies do? It's definitely insured for what it is, but you're right, if the police get the car details from this db as well it will be a pain .. I'm wondering if there's any mechanism for correcting this?

I would be amazed if the source of the info is not from the DVLA...

but the registration document is correct, and it comes up as the right vehicle when I tax it on-line

I'd be more surprised if the data comes from the DVLA rather than what was inputed against the Reg when it was first insured,

My car comes up as a 2.0 on DVLA however when I received my insurance documents it was insured as a 1.6. Soon edited that! The reg comes up on insurance qoutes as a 1.6 Zetec but on HPI and on DVLA as a 2.0 Zetec ESP.

Just noticed that my car is listed as "KIA RIO STRIKE AUTO" on MID (it's a manual), odd!

Get it annually on some comparison web sites. V5 is correct, as is every renewal from DVLA. But then not unusual as when I bought present car, the VRN brought up the correct car on insurance co base, but next question was on ABS/immobiliser.
