Inconsiderate parking, police policies.
Discussion
Hi!!
I live next door to a school, and am getting sick to the back teeth of people who think it is OK to park on the pavements, grass verges, my front garden, behind my car and generally bloody inconsideratly. I have approached the head teacher today who was very sympathetic, after things came to a head this week. My partner was verbally abused when she asked a mum to move her car and when aonther parent, literally parked on my front garden. The head suggested I contacted local police as I have photographic evidence of the above vehicles.
Would the police take any action if they were presented with photos of vehicles obviously parking illegally or would they have to witness it forthemselves to take any action?
I have lived here for 5 years and have never known such a problem, now winter is approaching my fear is that if people continue to park as they do the land around my house will be destroyed.

Buy 6 wheelclamps and charge them 150 sqirs to release them...it's your garden after all!!
We thought about that!! Problem is we would most probably find £150 worth of scratch, slashed tyre or brick through window the next morning!!
Look at my profile picture for examples of damage done by these twats.
Log everything, with photos if possible. Call your local station (which is usually the central control room anyway, but don't get me started...).
Ring every time there is a problem, with registrations if possible, and descriptions/photos of anyone threatening you/your partner.
Ask for a NEW incident number every time (not just a historical one), and demand some action. It may not be traffic that eventuially come down, you may get a visit from your local beat officer, who will (should) liase with the school to try and rectify the problem.
Try and keep the school "in the loop" as well, it helps no end.
We had a similar problem at Dibble Towers, to the extent that on occasion I wasn't able to get into/out of my drive (with dropped kerb) to work, by parents being unable to walk three extra yards abandoning cars outside. It only took about three fixed penalties from the beat oficer for the problem to be sorted.

Could you not find the traffic warden that works your area and tell him/her you will shout them an extra £5 - £10 for each car he tickets during school arriving and departing hours - the car owners will soon get the message and it is not your fault as they don't know you have asked the warden to do so.
You're not alone Zetec. We live opposite a junior school entrance and are also plagued by lazy parents parking across or in our driveway. I used to complain about it, but after several physical confrontations, verbal abuse and instances of nails through my tyres I now no longer bother
We did keep reporting it to the police, but it wasn't really a high priority for them (we had one visit from our local officer). The school were also less than helpful. I asked the headmaster to speak to the parents, but as far as he was concerned it was not his job to do that. They do (I am told) keep asking parents not to do this in the school newsletters.
We have now put this down to something you have to accept when living opposite a school - needless to say our next house will not be in such a position. It was the attitude displayed by the parents of this school that caused us to make sure that both of our daughters got places at a school that is about a half a mile away!

Placing low cut stumps around your property to make their life awkward could be a start. I've seen it done quite fetchingly (must have had Big tits Dimmock round!).
Park your car in their way.
Rent a VERY large van and as soon as they take little Britney christina destiny in, block them in and go for breakfast. Even better when you get someone else to do this for you so no comebacks on your self.
You just need an ignorant bald headed neanderthol(sp?) with a van. Pity you live so far away!

..or get some large and heavy garden stones and half bury them around your boundary (or make them about 6-7" above ground). Then don't cut the grass around them. Once a few have damaged their own bumpers alloys and door sills through their own bad parking they just might learn.

In addition to Bibble's sensible suggestion:
Write a letter to:
Headmaster
Local Chief of Police,
Local Authority Traffic Management
Other interested parties (suffering friends)
Local media
outlining the problem, the fact that it has been previously reported and nothing done and ask them to meet at ????hrs on such and such a date at site so that the matter can be discussed and a long term solution arrived at.
......one can only try...

Buy a beaten up landie. If they refuse to move, warn them. If they still refuse ram the feckers out the way
A friend had such problems (but she still wouldnt resort to my solution
)
She (and the neighbours, who were suffering similar problems) managed to get the council to put white lines across their drives. Hence its an offence to park there. They hassled the council everytime someone parked on them (which was everyday at first) they took photos of people doing it and eventually it stopped. They still get the odd person do it but overall its got much better.

I had the same problem with a guy parking an S Type across the entrance to the private car park where I live. Had left polite notes on windscreen (no, really polite).
I was in a Mitsubishi L200 Warrior pickup truck and saw him in traffic, asked him to wind the window down. The conversation went a little like this:
Me: Would you mind not parking across the entrance to the car park at
Posh Mondeo Driver: I don't
Me: You do and it makes it difficult to get big vehicles out of the car park. Your Jag is a nice motor (I lied) and I'd hate for someone to bump it when trying to get a big car out.
Problem solved, no more dodgy parking.

Thanks for the replies.
Just to let you know the headteacher was very sympathetic and stood outside the gates noting registration numbers of anyone parking inconsideratly this afternoon. The local radio and paper are also running campaigns regarding school run parking and contacting them was threatened. I do not wish to do this as it will mean bad publicity and more work for a VERY helpful and sympathetic head.
Yes, I live next to a school and can't really complain as I should know the situation. But, it is a damn good school and as both my kids go there, we have no problem with access as at 9am and 3pm we are either dropping off or collecting . However, my neighbours do and we have spoken to all our neighbours this evening.
As I said in my original post we have lived here for 5 years and have NEVER had problems with people who obviously have a blatent disregard for other peoples properties untill now.
Thanks for all the replies and I will be on to my local plod in the morning.
