Parking - is this the place?
Discussion
is the the place for parking questions?
I've just been issued a section 622 notice (penalty £80) because I had part of a tyre on a kerb.
as I understand it it refers to a footway (ie BLOCKING the pavement) not a couple of inches of tyre up the kerb
surely they are taking the "uric acid solution"?

Roads are for vehicles Brian, footpaths for those on....naughty boy...
S34 RTA 88 Driving a mpv on any road being a footpath...offence, unless for purpose of saving life, extinguishing fire or other like emergency.
Footpath - (England and wales only) means a way over which the public have a right of way on foot only.
Max fine 1,000 notes.
If it was a TW that clagged you then isn't the fine 40 notes if paid quickly, 80 if you hold on?

Highway Code
218 - DO NOT park partially or wholly on the pavement unless signs permit it. Parking on the pavement can obstruct and seriously inconvenience pedestrians, people in wheelchairs, the visually impaired and people with prams or pushchairs.
Incidentally - how wide was the pavement, and how wide your lane?
I have just had one these for parking on a drive in/set down point outside work which has a red block two car width 'road' butted up to the kerb stones of the pavement all at the same height/level, I had approx. 1-2cm of one tyre over the kerb bit, it was issue at 9.20 at night !! I am going to challenge it. The ticket was from Westminster who are complete and utter c**ts. This is all part of our freindly war criminal/PM: the rev blair's police state, we all most challenge these tickets and do our upmost to not pay them and challenge them. These traffic wardens are paid for by us to terrorise all of us, there are hundreds of them roaming the streets in central London and all they do is issue tickets for the most pathetic and slenderest parking offences. The whole parking thing in London is a racket, just like the mafia protection rackets in '30s America.

Could be wrong but I seem to remember that the curb is part of the road not the pavement?
The road goes from hedge to hedge. It includes bridges over which it passes and it will also include any pavement. However the pavement is itself covered by specific legislation of which you have unfortunately fallen foul!
Don't think you understand there is no raised kerb where I parked, the pavement and the drive-in are all at the same level. This area is a 'carriage' style curved drive-in with enough space to allow three to four cars to park, it also has posts along each edge and has large areas of pavement either side. The ownership of this and hence whether parking restrictions apply is disputed by westminster and they are starting to issue tickets on out of bloody mindedness because, as I said earlier they are a bunch of c**ts.

Particularly helpful for the blind fella who taps the kerb with his white stick to work out where he is going.
Yup - prevent him walking into a speed limit, bus lane or no parking sign post.
What a dumb post. If he regularly walks the route, a blind man will know the location of street furniture. What he will not be ready for is the ton of motor car that some selfish individual has left on the space earmarked for pedestrians.

No one is talking about a ton of car left on a place reserved for pedestrians ????
I am. original post states that wheel is on the kerb - therefor car is over the payment. My blind man is walking along the pavement, tapping the kerb with his white stick when he walks straight into the front bumper of the car.
With me now?
